Q: Is this for 2 amps or just one amp??
A: It can be for one or two. I have it connected to two amps.
Q: Will this stop my light from dimming to the bump my 12's put out. 2amps 1000 each
A: If it's 1,000 watts rms each then you would need at least 2.5 Farad to support your system properly and keep it from turning the lights down. If you're only doing about 1.000 rms or under it would work ok.
A: I would adjust the gain it sound like you have to much input power. Wich if thats the case then it won't matter how muchpower it gets. Power supply shortage causes it to heat up after it plays for a while which the over heating causes it to shut down .

A: No need 1 farad per 1000w minimum bigger is better
Q: what the wattage use on this item
A: The only thing a capacitor does is store energy. A twelve volt car battery/alternator system usually runs at least at 12.5 volts. That means to get 2500 watts divide 2500 by 12.5 and you need an additional 200 amps at 12.5 volts to make 2500 watts. (volts x amps = watts). The main purpose of a capacitor in a high wattage 12 volt music system is to get rid of generator wine and to help with peak power requirements.
