A: You can control each individual bulb, or you can control all of them simultaneously. You can also alternate between one or the other, so you are not locked into whichever choice you initially decide upon.
Q: Will this style work in recessed lighting?
A: Yes, this is designed for recessed lighting. Be mindful of the size of your recessed lighting - the BR30 bulb is for a 4" opening.
A: These are labeled for indoor use only. I don't know if I'd trust them outside. Especially because of their cost.
A: You can mix and match the whites and the colors. In the Hue app, you can group the bulbs and select individual brightness levels and color ranges. I ended up buying all color bulbs for a similar size room and am glad i have the option to set color everywhere instead of some being white all the time.
Q: Is it a color or just white color lamp?
A: They provide both color and white ambience lighting. You adjust to your liking or use preset “scene” color.
A: They will dim and change color. You will need a Philips hue hub. One hub is all that is allowed per network with up to 50 lights on it. At the price it's a lot to spend on 6 bulbs. You can put in a dimmer switch for about 1/5 of what the bulbs and hub will cost. Other than that. Great lights.

A: I have one installed outdoors however it is a covered porch.
Q: Can I use my Amazon Alexa to control these lights or do I need a hub?
A: You do need some sort of Alexa centered HUB to utilize that feature. For example, the Echo Plus has both features in one. Or you can buy them separate.
