A: I have it hooked up with a 3.5mm cable and it stays on unless I power it off.
A: It has optical, 3.5mm audio jack(Aux), and bluetooth so hypothetically as long as your TV has optical or you can connect it with the Aux cable you should be fine.
Q: i thought it auto turned off every 20 mins not 3 mins????
A: There is a way to fix the turn off feature. I did on mine because of the annoyance factor when your idle at computer. It's officially unofficial firmware update.
Q: Will this work on a desktop computer?
A: Yes -but that's IF it works then it would by mini jack or optical connection (if you have that). After my bad experience with it I don't recommend it for anything. Don't buy.
