Q: How do I get the middle four outlets labeled master controlled to turn on and become live plugs?
A: Mine isn't marked that way, and I had no such problem. Just checked it with more than one item. If yours is anything like a 4-slice toaster, or some 2-slice toasters, you may have a "master outlet", possibly the first or last if both qualify in this case, that has to be IN USE before the others are workable. Sort of like, you have to use the right toaster slot before the other one will also work.

A: As far as I know, all plugs become live once something is plugged in to the Master outlet

A: Put phone line coming from wall outlet to in and then runa line out to phone.The other out can go to fax or whatever if you want.
