Q: What does the Type A differ from the non type A
A: I'm not sure that this is an answer. This USB drive is a 2.0 just like every other one out there. The magic about this one is the tiny wi fi radio built in to make your data carrying life easier. It streams fast enough to watch smooth video with little to no buffering, plays content clearly and accurately. If you don't want to stream from it to your device then get a non-wifi version. Works great, app seems a little buggy from time to time. Overall I'd have to say "Great Product".
A: No. I actually had to return this unit for a similar reason. Although it's hard to tell from the description, no data transfer is possible via USB. USB is only for charging. All data transfer must be wireless.
A: It charges when it's plugged into your computer usb. Will last about 2.5 to 3 movies of nominal length when streaming via the built in wifi.
