A: No it’s a freestanding ice maker that gets filled by pouring for a picture or large cup into a water tank that is in it above the ice.

Q: I just purchased this ice maker. I followed the directions for cleaning, etc. Is it normal for it to be very loud? I wasn't expecting the machine to be so loud. When I turn off ice making, all my ice ends up melting so I feel the need to keep it running.

A: This variety of ice makers are known for being kinda loud. That being said I have one of these in my TV room and I use a soundbar and can hear the TV fine with the ice maker running.

A: It is a light buzzing noise, like your AC or fan. You can hear it, but it is not nearly as loud as my last one.

Q: Does this keep the ice from melting without having to move to the freezer?

A: No I’m this size does not keep it frozen. Ice makers that keep ice frozen are at a far higher price point than portable ice makers.

    Cool Ice maker

    Works really well keeps ice in the machine as long as you keep it running. I love the blue light If you have a large famiky or use a lot of ice you would need anothr bugger ice maker. Its good for individual use. I gave 4 stars for overall only because it has to keep running to keep ice in the machine. I would definitely buy again.

    Squeal Grind Melt… headache

    I wish I could give it a better rating, I truly do. This unit showed promise the first 2-3 days of use, it makes perfect crunchy little ice bits. But that is the only positive thing. First, the unit is not insulated so you have to constantly dump your ice into a larger bin and store in freezer. Otherwise it melts very fast and you’re left with more of a slush. Second and most impactful was the SHIPPER and SELLER from Best Buy marketplace (website) only has a 14 day return policy. Which is standard for some things, but 16 days into use and the machine started to make this very loud grinding and squealing sound. So I could not return the item…. It can only be operated for about 10-12 minutes before it begins it’s the issue, making it a worthless purchase. Don’t buy this machine, sure it’s an affordable option but just spend the money and get an insulted properly crafted machine.
