You can never have too many USB ports!

This 7-port powered USB 3.0 hub is just what I needed! There are never enough ports on my computers and this gives me 7 extra ports. It's compact (about 2.5" x 1" x 6.75"). The 2 ports on the back are for the included USB connecting cable (about 42") and the included power adapter cord (about 48"). Also included are 4 different electrical plugs that are easily attached for your specific type of outlet. I like the powered hub and have noticed no performance loss.

    Excellent USB 3.0 data & charging hub - 4.5-stars

Not a PERFECT 5-star but better than a 4-star. No 1/2 star option so I rounded down. If this was less bulky compared to other hubs and or had at least one USB-C port it would be a 5-Star even at full retail price (hear value). **************** ***** Pros ***** **************** + Quantity of Ports - 7 to 8 is among the most I've seen on a hub that does both data and charging + Price - Retails for roughly $75-79, I got mine on flash sale for $48.99 which makes this a good deal for a 7-port charging hub. + Quality - Ports are well made and the device is well constructed. Plugging and unplugging of USB ports is appropriately tight. + Charging & Data transfer - quick and painless which is not as forgone a conclusion as you might think for a charging hub. I've had others that didn't do both as advertised, effectively or efficiently. ***************** ***** Cons ***** ***************** - Footprint -> This is a lesser con for some people and for my specific use case since I am using it in a vertical orientation in a fixed location (see picture). However, for use-cases that include portable/ travel use, this would be a consideration. It is "bulkier than I was expecting" was my first impression. For a newer, though not new, technology it's a bulky. For comparison, I have an 8-port USB-2 Hub from 7-years ago that is roughly 2/3rds the thickness of this unit. Note, two off the 8-ports are on the back of the other six. My older unit is also 2.5-cm shorter than this "newer" technology hub. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - No type-C port - Since this is a charging hub, it would have been nice to have at least one type C port. Wish it had at least one USB Type C port for my use-case. If it had that, I would not need an additional connector between a device with underlying USB 3.0 speed connections and charging when using this charging hub. So why did you buy this one you may be asking? Because all the data & charging USB 3.0 hubs that had at least one Type C port only had two or three Type-A USB 3.0 ports and that wasn't enough.

7 ports? A necessity, these days.

Given the seemingly extremely limited number of USB ports on PC cases these days, I knew I would need something like this for my new build. At 7 ports, that's enough to connect my hard drives and CD/DVD drive, with several slots still to spare for plugging in flashdrives or anything else that might arise. The indicator lights are also very helpful, but don't be alarmed if some go off when a drive is just "sleeping" when you're not using it. Well, I've been using this for eight months and have had none of the problems some others have reported. Just make sure it's plugged into an outlet to power the devices that need that extra juice--or they'll start making a very concerning noise which will promptly freak you out!

Questions & Answers
  • I have a 10 year old desktop computer, looking to plug Elgato HD 60 S to it. But I get the error code that basically says I need to use a USB 3.0 port. Will this do the trick? Is it truly plug and play, or does it need to be installed into the tower?

This product is a hub or splitter. It takes one usb 3.0 and makes that one a multi. If your machine doesn't have a USB 3.0 port I don't believe this is what you are looking for. I would look at a USB 3.0 card to install in the computer. Hope this helps.

  • Does this come with a usb cord, and if so, what is the length of the usb cord? I cannot find a usb hub that I can use for my desktop put of the box. The belkin 7 port was ideal, but It seems to have vanished.

Yes, there is a cord connecting the device to your computer's USB socket. I just did a rough measurement (still plugged in) and it's about 39 to 40 inches.
