Q: Does this system require in home wifi?
A: No it does not. However if you need to see the security cameras live over internet, it needs LAN connection with internet access. Normal if you have that, you will have a Wifi also but Wifi is not needed.
A: The output is color in the daytime and black and white at night. The black and white in the description is referring to the actual colors of the camera and hard drive. Recently purchased and hooked up yesterday.
