The Tamron 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 (Model AFA071S-700) is the world’s first all-in-one zoom to achieve a maximum aperture of F2.8 at the 28mm wide-angle end. Despite covering a wide range of focal lengths, the lens is lightweight and compact, making it convenient to bring along for all your picture taking needs. When combined with a compact, lightweight full-frame/APS-C mirrorless camera, it allows photographers to capture virtually every scene they encounter in daily use, travel, sports and nature. Tamron did not compromise on optical performance. The use of special lens elements—including LD (Low Dispersion) and XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion)- help suppress chromatic aberrations, making it possible to achieve high image quality from edge to edge. With a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.19m (7.5 in) at the wide end and 0.8m (31.5 in) at the telephoto end, the lens also offers high-level close-up shooting performance. The AF drive system is powered by the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit to deliver high-speed, high-precision performance. The lens also features Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating for added protection.

This lens is in great demand because of it’s 28-200mm zoom range and Sony E-Mount attachment capability. Once ordered, Best Buy notified us when it was available to obtain and whether it was in stock or ready for pickup. Great service & great price! It is lightweight, easy to use, and as you can see by the very first photo taken, it really enhanced the image. This is of Kaneohe Bay on Oahu which was originally a volcano. The island you see is now a research ctr for the Univ. of HI to help save the wonderful turtles that are in the bay, varieties of sharks and other fish, as well as coral reefs. It was the the island that you saw (if you are old enough or like goofy comedies) that was right at the beginning of Gillian’s Island TV show. It is actually called “Coconut Island.”

This is one of the best versatile lens on the market. My first lens was the 28-75mm f2.8 from Tamron. I was impressed with that lens but am even more impressed with the 28-200. You’re able to get great texture/detail shots as well as wide landscapes. It’s my go-to lens now. The lens is lightweight which is nice but it doesn’t have the quality feel like you would get on a Sony G or GM lens. But that’s just a minor thing to consider.

I have been told about this lens time and time again from my photographer friends and man, I should've jumped on this sooner! The 2.8 aperture is just too good making low-light a non-issue. The 200mm zoom makes concert photography much easier. The images are crisp and I can't enough great things about the lens. This is paired with my Sony A7iv.
