A: This antenna is slightly directional. Try moving it slightly using the cable on the back, facing you, as a guide. Also make sure the switch is set to dual to take advantage of the pre-amp and amp.
Q: My TV is not close to a window. Does this antenna need to be placed by a window to get reception?
A: Sometimes you do. Depends on the reception for the day. Sometimes good sometimes poor. I bought the cord to extend it and reach the window. Once I did this the reception was so much better. No more recalibration.
A: 70 miles might be too far. Also, it depends on the terrain (flat or hills) between you and the broadcast antenna. We are about 30 miles from TV stations and get great reception.

A: There is actually no need to turn the item off. If you did, you would have to do the setup each time you want it on again. I wouldn't recommend unplugging it each time.
