It's all about value. The Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel is an entry level force feedback (FF) wheel for use in racing/driving games where realism is helped by .. well, force feedback. As your virtual race car enters the turn, there's resistance from the wheel, or you feel a jitter in the steering when as you hit bumps simulating what you feel in real life. This is done by a hybrid system of gears, belts, and pulleys within the unit which physically translates the force feedback forces such as cornering, wheel slip, etc. from your racing driving simulator. The T-128 does this very well, and at a price point that won't break most people's budget. The motor could be stronger, but keep in mind this is an entry level with a price that reflects that. The wheel mounted paddle shifters (to change gears) work great, and it's a bit of a surprise to me Thrustmaster included the very precise magnetic shifters in their entry level FF wheel. Kudos to them on that decision. The wheel is smooth and fairly quiet. The size of the wheel is on the smaller size, which may bother more than others. There doesn't appear to be any hard mounting options, just the clamp to keep it secured to a desk. As an entry level system, it's probably not going to mounted permanently, but rather mounted and dismounted from a desk, so for most people it likely won't matter. I was disappointed that the cables connect underneath the unit, and guided out the bottom rear of the motor case. It would be a far more convenient if it simply connected to the back of the unit. The T128 Racing Wheel also comes with pedals -- another added value at it's price point. While the pedals are very smooth in terms of translating your input into the gas/brake of the simulation, though the physical resistance of the pedals left a lot to be desired. I can depress the pedals with one finger, making it difficult to incrementally increase pedal pressure. It would be nice to have more resistance, but then the base might just slide across the floor. They also look and feel very cheap, with no weight to them. I know this is a budget system so I kind of get it, but it's still disappointing. The T128 reviewed here is compatible with both the Xbox and PC. The versatility to use it on either system certainly adds to its value. There will be another version for Playstation/PC as well. Despite some of my criticisms, given its price point as an entry level/budge system, I have to say I am very impressed with all that the Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel. It may have just set the standard for what an entry level FF wheel should offer.
