A: Hello, The VIA 1515TM does not need internet service to work, traffic is updated via the traffic receiver/power cable included. You will need a computer with internet connection to update the maps. You can also use coordinates when planning a route or finding a location. Route calculation time is dependent upon a valid GPS signal. By downloading the quickgpsfix file on a regular basis you will decrease the time it takes for the device to lock onto a valid signal and calculate a route. Thanks
Q: How does the device get Traffic updates?
A: It has a traffic device built into the car charger, it does not require an app on your smartphone, like some other models. But will only give you traffic updates when you have a route planned into it.
Q: How long will 1515tm run on battery alone fully charged?

A: Hello Rick. The VIA 1515TM uses RDS-TMC which updates traffic approximately every 15 mins. Thanks
Q: Can you program more than one destination on a trip?
A: One way is to program your main destination, then you can program up to 3 (?) "VIA" locations along your way to your main destination. I usually delete the VIA points after arriving to each stop, in case another VIA is needed, such as an impromptu POI (Point Of Interest). Otherwise, for multiple main destinations, the Favorites feature works great to store in memory; to be called up in a few touches very quickly. This unit can store quite a few Favorites.

Q: Will the real time updates expire Dec. 31, 2016 ?
A: Uses Satellites for Live Updates... NOT your cell... and updates are good for as long as you own it.... at least in my experiences with TOMTOM
