The "LOC" is a safety feature for locking of the controls to avoid accidental changing of temperature or turning off during use, given the proximity of the buttons to your finger positions while brushing. Pushing the power button 3 times will turn the unit to the "OFF" position. In addition, after 30 minutes the unit turns off both the heating and ionic features, though we always recommend unplugging for additional safety. Additionally, if you press the power button twice and then on the third time hold it down, it unlocks and the unit will turn off. Thanks so much for your question. When heated, the Beard Straightening Brush can be used to straighten hair, and when unheated it can be used like a regular hair brush. Also, you can use it for the hair on your head as well as for your beard.

To change the temperature, press and hold the power button for three seconds; the display screen will flash and show the temperature. Use the temperature up and down buttons to adjust the setting.
Turning The Straightener Off:
Push the power button 3 times to turn the unit OFF. If you prefer, you can press the power button twice and then on the third time hold it down to unlock the unit and turn it off. After turning off the unit, always unplug it for additional safety.
