Economical Windows Tablet that Over-Delivers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tablet about a month ago after my primary laptop crashed while on business travel. Even though the Geek Squad was able to fix the laptop, I wanted a tablet that I could take in its stead to avoid any future problems. The challenges: (1) I not only use MS Office, but Adobe Photoshop as well, because I do book editing and layout and some graphic design. So, I decided I wanted a Windows OS tablet. (2) I only had a $200-ish budget. (3) I wanted the option of a keyboard, but ability to use the device as a straight tablet. The Insignia 11.7" tablet with 32GB RAM fit the bill...EXCEPT, the salesman warned me that it would not be able to run multiple programs at once, and especially not Photoshop. I'm happy to say that he was wrong. I installed the free trial of Adobe Creative Suite, installed an extra 400+ fonts, and subscribed MS Office 360 with all of it being downloaded onto the internal memory. I am able to work on multi-layer files in Photoshop while having Microsoft Word open from which to copy text. I purchased a high speed 32GB micro SD card to use as my extra data "storage device" and have had an excellent experience this far. Sure, it's not super-fast, but it gets the job done, and keeps me from possibly damaging my primary laptop with all of the jostling during travel. I appreciate how easily the tablet connects/disconnects from the keyboard and the small amount of space it takes up in my carry-on. The screen is wider than most tablets, which is exceptionally nice for watching movies. The keyboard has two USB 2.0 PORTS that will handle a flash drive (I use 128GB flash drives) but will NOT power a portable drive. The tablet itself has the microSD slot as well as a microHDMI slot. With the cables I carry, I can connect the tablet to a flat screen TV in the hotel rooms to either use as an expanded desktop monitor or to watch Netflix or YouTube in style. I will say that you will want to use a wireless mouse with this if you are are trying for productivity as the mousepad can be quite jumpy at times. In full tablet mode, the touch screen is fairly responsive, though a little quirky times. So far, this tablet has over performed and over delivered compared to what the salesperson said it would do. I'm extremely satisfied. I believe I got lots of bang for my budget!

Great value for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great computer for the price. Very portable, and I like that the keyboard is detachable, so you can use it as a tablet. My only biggest concern, is the charging cable is way too short, only 3 feet I think. So if you're used to wrapping your old laptops 20 foot adapter, you will not be able to freely use this laptop, with a charger plugged in.

Not bad for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A bit heavy and slow, but for acceptable at the price. It serves the purporse for which it was purchased, which is to have a computer to take along when traveling.

The the best small windows tablet for the money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is exactly what I needed to escape losing all of my work while traveling. It is small enough to easily take anywhere, yet powerful enough to handle all of my word processing needs. I like the keyboard and I enjoy having the same profile as my laptop without the bulk. It is so affordable, that if it is stolen, I can easily replace it instead of my $800.00 laptop.

Q: QuestionWhy is this tablet only $200 when other tablets of similar size memory and operating systems are $400-$500 dollars more? I would like to just shrug it off as its not as well know of a brand but it seems too cheap. Am i missing something?
Asked by Chadd.
- A:Answer I asked the same question when I bought mine. The sales rep explained that Insignia is Best Buy's store brand and they can build the units at a relatively inexpensive cost. He assured me that the parts were all from name brand suppliers. You are simply not paying for the "NAME". I've only had mine for a month as of this writing, but have had good success (see my review for more details).

Q: QuestionWould this be good for college students ?
Asked by Dnice.
- A:Answer This was bought for my daughter to use in college as her standard sized laptop was too large to easily be carried around on a daily basis. Since Microsoft Office 365 was the standard used by all departments on campus, an ipad or android device would not have worked very well. So far there have been no issues loading and running Office or connecting to various wifi spots. Also, in tablet mode it makes a pretty good e-reading device for digital textbooks. My daughter also says the keyboard layout is more comfortable to use while typing than my slightly smaller 10" tablet. We compared the keyboard size to a Surface and they seem about the same overall.

- A:Answer It is one of the newer USB connections. It is USB-C, so you will not be able to use one of your other charging devices, unless it is USB-C.

Q: QuestionAre there any other options for word and excel other than the subscription that work on this tablet
Asked by Sam.
- A:Answer Hi Sam, I'm not sure if Office is sold as a one-time purchase anymore since they like to push the Office 365 Subscription. However, you can use Office in a web browser. Just log into the mobile versions of Word/Excel/PowerPoint. If you have a hard time finding them, I know you can access them through the OneDrive website. Another solution would be to install OpenOffice (free open source office suite) onto the device.
