2103: The Deadly Wake [DVD] [1997]

The digital transfer of 2103: The Deadly Wake must have represented a challenge to the lab: In an apparent effort to save money on production, the filmmakers filled the ship where most of the action takes place with high walls, then illuminated them with glowing lights of primary colors. The DVD holds these colors pretty well, with little loss around the edges. The more traditionally lit scenes look crackly crisp. The Dolby 5.1 soundtrack is used to its full advantage, with off-screen sounds emerging from the rear speakers to heighten the eeriness of the film.
