- A: AnswerWe have Geek Squad protection on all of our appliances in 2 homes and happy to say it starts when the item is purchased. We never use the manufacturer warranty. We don't even register the appliances with the manufacturer. We only go through Geek Squad for any service and repairs. We always choose the 5 year option so we at least get 5 years out of each appliance. We also have Total Tech Support which has been well worth the investment!
