A: No. Uses Google Home app only.
A: Yes it will work. I had the same issue. My closest connection needed at least 30 feet and I ran an extension under the eaves. It has been working flawlessly.

A solid new generation of wired outdoor camera
I have a Nest Camera household ranging from their Google/Nest Gen1 Outdoor Wired to their Nest Cam Battery using solar panels or hardwired battery options. This newer outdoor wired camera series, which I got for $120 each, is a great deal. Better camera fidelity and night vision than prior models, and the AI features with my Nest subscription are great. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the wired cable is shorter than the generation 1 cable. The old one had a 25 foot cable, whereas the new one is 18 feet. If they're sold an extension cable for it that would be great, but I don't see that it's available and I don't see any other accessories specifically for this model. So far so good one week into ownership, and I can recommend them based on the simple initial setup and qualities it provides.
