    Awesome ultra-portable gaming laptop!

Verdict: This little laptop blew away my expectations! The Acer Predator Triton 14.5" 3K OLED Gaming Laptop is an ultra-portable laptop that packs a huge punch! It has made me reconsider my preference for 16”, 17”, and 18” gaming laptops as my preferred primary computers to use at home with multiple monitors and also for travel (with a portable monitor). I still have a hard time believing that it’s as powerful as my large and heavy gaming laptop, but consumes half the power and is half the weight. My large gaming laptop won’t charge on an airplane because it draws too much power, and it’s dead after 45 min of use, even on low power. The Acer Predator Triton consumes less power and the battery lasts at least three times longer. From my perspective, this one is a homerun by Acer! First impressions. The esthetics are nothing to write home about… standard black laptop; I think there is an opportunity there to add spice in the next generation. It is very small and lightweight. I like the startup sound but it could be awkward if you are starting your computer in class or in a crowded place. I love that the color keys go crazy when the computer starts… very cool! The fan and cooling concept seem to be well designed. The thin screen is gorgeous. Thank you for including Windows Hello facial login. The Predator logo on the back of the laptop is cool, but not recognizable, which is fine for me. The screen is touch, and the touchpad is large, doesn’t click (but still provides haptic feedback), and supports the included pen. Setup. The laptop uses the standard Windows login and setup, although there was a input opportunity to put my name and pin at the beginning to perhaps setup a local login? Never seen that before, but it didn’t work anyway… I ended up on the Windows sign-in screen. Besides the loads of updates, setup was smooth. I do wish the Acer Predator hub allowed for better customization of the RGB keys. Instead, any sort of customization is in the Windows Personalization settings, and they are limited, which is strange because the keyboard has the full range of colors. Functionality. - Face recognition works very well; instant login every time - Presence detection dims the screen when away, but I don’t care for it - There is a Copilot button for convenience; it works quite well in loading copilot fast - There is also a performance profile button at the top left of the keyboard; I love this option to quickly engage the fans or greater performance when needed. I think that’s a great use of a physical button to generate a tangible performance change - I do like the Predator button, but it would be more useful to me if it allowed access to greater RGB configuration. Currently, it’s a feature that is not really useful, especially since there is a performance profiled button. Can I reprogram the button to launch Chrome or my favorite AI app?! I am going to try that - Port selection is ok. Since I have to charge through the USB-C, I have just one USB-C port left. There are also 2x USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a 35mm audio jack, and micro-SD card reader (thank you!!). I will add a dongle in my computer bag to augment the number of ports (problem solved). On the other hand, the port quality is impressive: both USB-C are display ports and can be used for charging, and one USB-A can charge during power off - The included pen is cool, but the only us I have for it is probably just better signatures in Adobe Acrobat… I am not super sure what the use cases are, but I welcome the added tool! Performance. - The specs on the Acer Predator Triton are fantastic and come together nicely: Intel Core Ultra 9 with AI boost (48 NPU TOPS), 32 GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 5070 (with 8GB of of GDDR7 VRAM), DLSS 4 / Ray Tracing. Unfortunately, it only comes with Windows 11 Home, and not Pro (which includes more powerful tools such as Hyper-V) - The speakers are loud enough, and both sound quality and surround sound are quite good. Nevertheless, it’s not going to be loud enough for anything but personal consumption in a fairly quiet environment. For reference, it can barely cover up the sound of the fans at full speed - The thin 3k OLED screen is beautiful and ample for any precision requirements and very enjoyable for gameplay - The laptop is very quiet during normal use. However, you can definitely hear the fans when gaming; essentially a background low-pitch wooshing that gets stronger the harder it works. With the speakers on max, you still hear the background wooshing. With headphones, you won’t hear a thing. The fans actually do a great job at keeping the laptop and keyboard fairly cool at max performance, but it will still get warm, which is understandable given the compact chassis - I tested this laptop playing hours of Forza Horizon 6 because I was doing some other experimentation on that game this weekend. Gameplay was flawless on High Settings and 60FPS. You can further customize settings to achieve ultra or extreme on the most important ones, keeping ray tracing off and DLSS on, and getting to the 90s for FPS. Bottom line… I can’t believe that this little jewel can deliver such high-performance gaming in such a small package Things I love. - Amazing specs! Core Ultra 9, 32GB, RTX 5070, 1TB SSD, 3K OLED - The screen is just beautiful with vibrant colors - The touchpad does not click on its own, but provides haptic feedback. It’s generous in size and works well - LOVE the small size and weight. I think this is my new go-to all-around computer - Amazing battery life compared to my 17” inch gaming laptop with a 5080 - Comfortable keyboard with lighted keys - Presence sensor so the computer wakes up when you are near - Acer AI tools are included for free; they are ok Things I don’t love. - Please add a physical shutter on the webcam - Maybe add some new chassis colors in the future - I wish it came with a computer bag - I expected more customizable RGB settings since it appears to have all the colors Overall, the Acer Predator Triton is a homerun… Awesome specs, perfect size, exceptional performance. I most highly recommend this computer for its power, performance package, and value. Well done, Acer!

    Prettiest Girl At The Ball!

2024 called…and its hardware is still good! The Intel Ultra 9 288v debuted in late 2024, even after 2 years it still has some performance chops for mobile gaming and content creation. Paired with the Nvidia RTX 5070 8GB VRAM, most AAA games are going to hit high-frame rates on 1080P/1440P settings. Open world games with lots of shadowing and ray-tracing will need some parameters tweaked to keep frame rates at 60FPS minimums. The i9 288v has the Intel Arc 140V 16GB RAM shared from the 32GB LPDDR5X system RAM. Running on battery mode and the Arc 140V takes over if left in the default GPU mode (Optimus by Nvidia) which helps conserve battery. Base frequency is 3.30GHZ which is high enough you can do some gaming and editing without the laptop hitting any thermal throttling issues with the Turbo frequency hitting 5.1Ghz for some speed bursts. You should be able to get a solid work day on mixed use out of the battery and if you need a top up the 140watt charger will get you topped up quickly. Mobile gaming/editing depending on the workload and content export will vary. In Eco Mode, the laptop runs cool and the fans never had to turn on, with the CPU and Memory staying in the high 90’s to low 100’s F. Plugged in and set to Turbo setting, I exported a 37min 1080p video to MP4 and the CPU ran in the high 3Ghz range, temps stayed in the 122F-125F range. Playing some Need For Speed: Unbound, the temps were just a bit higher in the mid 130’s for CPU and GPU was low 140’s. Fans speed during both was on high and while its not crazy loud, anyone in the room will definitely hear it. My wife thought the kettle was boiling. The OLED screen is fantastic and I won’t even choose a laptop anymore if it is one. The CineCrystal with anti-glare is a layer for anti-glare. It is noticeable on white/light backgrounds, but in dark mode they are not noticeable. These are not distracting, just noticeable. Usually the anti-glare removes the “pop” from OLED’s, but not in this format. The light show when turning on the laptop is pretty cool All of that can be changed in the Predator Sense app, along with the keyboard lighting and all the other areas of RGB lighting, of which there are a few. The keyboard is excellent to use and has a fantastic feel. The touchpad took a little getting used and I had to tweak the haptic settings, force sensitivity. I turned off the “right-click in lower right” setting and just used the 2-finger touch to mimic it. I don’t use haptic touchpads often and so there is too much muscle memory with mechanical touchpads. Audio is okay, pretty hollow sounding, but loud enough. Listening to Podcasts or spoken word is fine, but a good set of headphones will do wonders for anything you want to be immersed in. Whether that is Bluetooth or 3.5mm Aux the Triton has you covered along with other ports. I love the USB-C ports are on both sides and both are available to charge the laptop, along with a set of USB-A 3.2’s. Not sure what Acer does with their HDMI ports, but they are some of the tightest fitting ports I have ever used.

Portable When You Need It/ Powerful When It Counts

✅After spending some time with the Acer Predator Triton, it's become one of those devices that you genuinely enjoy using every day. At first, I was concerned that a 14.5-inch gaming laptop might feel too small, but I quickly realized the compact size is actually one of its biggest strengths. It's highly portable while still packing the performance you would expect from a premium gaming machine. 💻The build quality is outstanding. The aluminum chassis gives it a premium look and feel from the moment you take it out of the box. It feels solid, well-built, and every bit worthy of its premium price point. One of my favorite features is the gorgeous 3K OLED display. Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and everything from gaming to everyday productivity looks fantastic. Acer also deserves credit for its Predator software suite. The customization options are easy to navigate, polished, and add to the overall premium experience. 🏁Performance has been excellent in my everyday use. I tested several of my favorite games and the laptop handled them with ease. Despite being a compact gaming system, it never felt underpowered. Battery life is also surprisingly good for a gaming laptop, making it practical when you're away from an outlet. And while i'm covering this department it is worth mentioning the power adapter. For a gaming laptop, it's refreshingly compact, and I really appreciate that it uses USB-C charging rather than a large proprietary brick. ⛔️There are only two areas where I think Acer could improve: 1) The soundstage feels spacious, and DTS processing does a good job creating an immersive experience. However, bass response is lacking. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but for a premium gaming laptop in this price range, I expected a little more depth from the speakers. 2) The haptic trackpad. I appreciate that Acer included this feature, and it works well overall, but it doesn't quite feel as refined as the haptic implementations found on a MacBook or some of the best Windows laptops. The included stylus support, which works through the trackpad, is an interesting idea, but I found it somewhat difficult to adapt to and more of a novelty than a feature I would use regularly. Still, it's an innovative approach, and I look forward to seeing how Acer improves it in future generations. 🤔At the end of the day, this is the type of laptop you fall in love with the more you use it. It's sleek, beautiful, highly portable, and delivers serious gaming performance when needed. While there are a couple of areas that could be improved, the overall experience is so strong that I have no problem giving it 5 stars😁

14.5" Premium Gaming Laptop with one caveat

I have been using the Predator Triton 14 AI for a few weeks now, and honestly, it is one of those laptops that is hard not to like. I originally wanted it because of the RTX 5070 and the OLED display, but after using it every day, what stands out most is how easy it is to live with. It's powerful enough to handle gaming without breaking a sweat, but it does not feel like you are carrying a giant gaming laptop everywhere. The first thing you will notice is the screen. The 14.5-inch OLED display looks amazing. Games look incredible, movies look great, and even random YouTube videos are better on them. The colors are rich, black, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes everything feel smooth. I found myself using this laptop more for watching content than I expected simply because the display is that good. Performance has been solid across the board. I have been gaming, streaming, working, and running far too many browser tabs at once, and the laptop just handles it. Whether I was playing games after work or using it for everyday tasks, I never felt like I was waiting on the system. One thing I did not expect to like as much as I did was the keyboard. The mini-LED per-key RGB lighting is impressive. The colors are bright, vibrant, and much more noticeable than the RGB lighting on most laptops I have used. In dimly lit areas, the keys look especially good. It is one of those little features that keeps reminding you that this is a premium machine. What I like most about the Triton is that it does not constantly remind you that it is a gaming laptop. Sure, the hardware says gaming laptop, but the design does not scream attention. The aluminum chassis looks clean and professional. I have used it at work, in meetings, and at coffee shops, and it never felt out of place. It feels like Acer built a gaming laptop first, making sure it was elegant enough to be a premium work laptop too. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, and the haptic touchpad took a couple of days to get used to it. The DTS:X Ultra six-speaker system is good too. It gets loud, voices sound clear, and games have good separation. My only complaint is that the sound feels a little thin compared to some other premium laptops I have used. It is missing bass and depth that makes movies and music stand out. Not bad by any means, just not something that wowed me. The only thing that genuinely frustrated me was the stylus. When I saw Acer included an active pen, I assumed I would use it directly on the touchscreen. That is not how it works. The stylus only works on the haptic touchpad. It is an interesting idea, but every time I used it, I wondered why I could not just use the pen on the screen instead. For a touchscreen laptop, it feels like a strange decision. The fans become noticeable while gaming, but I expected that. I would rather hear the cooling system working than watch temperatures climb and performance drop. After a few weeks of daily use, I can say this is one of the better all-around gaming laptops I have used. The OLED display is fantastic, performance is strong, the mini-LED keyboard looks amazing, and the overall design feels much more premium than most gaming laptops in this category. The stylus implementation feels like a missed opportunity, but it was not enough to take away everything else I liked. Pros: Fantastic 14.5-inch 3K OLED display Strong gaming performance with the RTX 5070 Bright and vibrant mini-LED RGB keyboard Premium aluminum build quality Easy to carry around Looks professional enough for work and meetings Cons: Stylus only works on the touchpad Speakers could use a little more bass and depth Fan noise is noticeable while gaming Expensive for its class Final Thoughts: I have genuinely enjoyed using the Triton 14 AI. It is one of the few gaming laptops I have used that feels just as comfortable sitting on a desk at work as it does run games at home. If Acer had implemented the stylus to work directly on the touchscreen, the Acer Predator Triton 14 AI laptop would be at the top of my list of all time premium gaming machines.

A gaming powerhouse in a portable size

If portability and gaming is what you are looking for, then Acer's Predator Triton is a great fit. The 14.5 inch size combined with a great selection of parts makes the Triton my new favorite when I have to travel. The size easily fits into my backpack vs my other 18" gaming laptop. In the box is nothing too special. You get the laptop, charger, a stylus and a quick start guide. I do wish for the price they could have at least included a protective case or something for my investment. Starting up for the 1st time is the standard Windows setup followed by a large number of updates and then proceeding to remove bloatware. To Acer's credit the only bloatware I remove is mainly AI stuff and McAfee. After that I was up and running playing my games off Steam, Epic and Blizzard launchers. The 5070 handles almost all games perfectly being paired with the Intel Ultra 9. The 3K OLED screen is just stunning with perfect colors and blacks. The resolution is not the standard I am used to but it is not bad at 2880 x 1800. Most games can be played and Med-High resolution with little to no hiccups and Ultra you will see dips. Most games I have been playing just maxes at the 120hz refresh rate of the Triton, though with newer AAA titles, it show signs of struggling. Other uses like streaming and working will be overkill for the Predator. Sound is adequate if you have no other options. No bass what so ever and sounds sound really weak. While the Triton can handle almost all tasks, it does generate a lot of heat and with a super compact chassis, you will feel it. The fans were super noticeable when playing demanding titles but headphone users will barely hear it. One oddity is the Stylus. I thought what a cool inclusion but quickly found out it is ONLY for the trackpad and cannot be used on the touchscreen. Weird. Honestly, I have yet to find any everyday uses for me to even use it on the trackpad so it has been sitting on the table next to me. The Triton's strong points are it's hardware and performance. Solid 5070 for gaming, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, 1 TB NVMe, gorgeous display (OLED) and superb portability. The drawbacks for me are the heat, price to performance is a little high (but I think it's from the RAM lol), a pretty niche stylus that I still have no idea what to use it on, no privacy cover for the front facing webcam, and lastly the low quality sounds from the speakers.
