Is an OK device
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is as good as it can be. It creates white noise but so far I have not seen one device in this style that does not create it. Sound quality is very acceptable, the volume is low.

Bad Business
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered a NEW SmartCharge and I received an open box with just the item and an instruction booklet tossed into a battered box. It does not even have the tray the charger comes in normally, the bag for the item was torn, and obviously it is a REJECT because it has a lot of static in any station it shows on its screen. First time I buy from BEST BUY and the last time I will do so. The welcome wagon made me feel like a fool, worthless customer. I regret having gone to this store.

Great Features, As expected FM reception...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the last 15 years I've had many different FM transmitters in various vehicles. I'd say considering it is Bluetooth and Transmitting via two wireless protocols, this performs better than most but has a few nuances like many other products. For instance, if you are trying to stream via Bluetooth to two separate devices say an earpiece (Plantronics etc...) for taking calls with the best call quality while also streaming music to this FM device, it will indicate that you're not connected even though you are indeed. For me with my Samsung S10+, I accomplish this by simply adjusting the Bluetooth connections so that my Plantronics isn't setup for streaming audio/music but is for calls & contacts only and obviously for this FM device I set it up so it's not configured for calls but only for audio/music. However, traditionally with my previous transmitters, they would indicate fully connected & function as desired allowing me to also use my phones EQ/Equilizer to customize the music audio quality nicely. This device will still play audio music even though it indicates that Bluetooth is not connected but doesn't allow the EQ settings to be applied. In order to enforce this you have to set the Bluetooth for this connection to enable all Bluetooth features which is basically calls & audio/music. Once that's done, the device acknowledges the fully connected status and properly utilizes the EQ configuration but of course this means you'll be recieving calls to that device and/or taking calls and/or streaming music simultaneously to both your headset and the FM transmitter which is not ideal for me but I make due for right now and adjust the Bluetooth connectivity as needed. That aside, as expected with any device like this using FM rather than full aux connectivity to your car stereo, you will likely not be able to leverage your phones advanced audio codecs to try and listen to slightly higher quality/fidelity sounds such as LDAC, AAC, Aptx, etc... And will only be able to leverage SBC codec via Bluetooth audio streaming. This is also true at least in my experience trying various hi-fi apps and via connecting to the Anker by means of the Aux-in port. I have not tried the USB drive or SD Card slot to see if those options allow any better but unfortunately this hasn't worked for me for streaming audio via USB from my phone connecting to the USB drive port either. I had expected and hoped to be able to plug in my phone via USB to the side USB port or any USB port and be able to switch the phone USB to midi/streaming function like most car stereo hardware allows these days and this Anker device simply doesn't see it or allow it to be compatible. That said, it appears that the SD Card & USB options in fact must literally be an SD card or USB Storage Devices only (SD cards or USB flash drives only). That sort of eliminates the ability to stream hi-fi audio from Spotify, Amazon, etc... through this via those connections forcing you to use basic quality SBC audio codec at 16-bit ~44.1hz through the side aux or Bluetooth and thus at high volumes, you'll always have static, interference and less than CD quality sound. For me this means that no matter what FM station is used, any where around town (Milwaukee, etc..) I hit static/channel interference listening to music when I get to volume levels on my 2005 Acura MDX any more than volume level 25 (max is 40). That's with the volume on my phone maxed, the absolute volume setting for Bluetooth connections disabled via Android developer options. Albeit, the auto scan helps to troubleshoot quickly while in traffic (safely) but still never too perfect or reliable as it always seems to be that someone else on the road nearby is on the same FM station and close enough proximity to be fighting for connectivity. Basically, every other day I'll have that happen and will go from what I'm listening to to a static-mix-up of someone's Country love song, Mumble Rap, or BonJovi greatest hits. I'm sure they are also getting a mash up too, so it's not unexpected when living in the city. With all that in mind, I have kept this and will continue to use it with my Acura MDX city warrior as with 284,391 miles on it with no major issues or expenses besides regular fluid maintenance and consumable hardware replacement parts (brakes, tires) considering the mileage and all stock engine/drivetrain and no aftermarket equipment, I can't complain with slight annoyances probably caused by wear and tear to the electrical system/grounds over the years in Wisconsin weather. Note: That may also be a factor regarding why I regularly get interference/static/electrical or static frequency which may be a source of the experience like many other people notice when they are trying to use an FM device or even an aux cable while they are charging their phone through USB from the vehicles electrical system. Thank you for your time.

Neat device
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Device works well for car stereo that doesn't have bluetooth. I have it in my 05 vette. Plays really clear. Easy to use , just gotta find a radio station not in use.

Works as Advertised
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We receive pretty good sound quality using the FM transmitter through the Bluetooth connection to our phone. It sounds just as good as piping it through a Bluetooth speaker. We have it installed in a 2005 Lexus. It was extremely easy to setup and start using. The hands-free dialing is OK. It works well for receiving a call, but requires a little getting used to initiate a new call through your contact list. The speakerphone has a pretty good microphone and does a decent job of filtering out background noise.

Great Features, but It Takes Up Room!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to replace an FM Transmitter that had gone missing. The material and built quality on this is excellent, for starters. App is easy to use, always seems to be running in the background though. It's up to you whether or not you want the car finding ability. I live in the country so it's not necessary. The display is a light blue and ALWAYS on. You can dim it in the app but it's still distracting, I find myself bending the neck on it so it sits away from me during night driving. You liking this product is really based on the fact of where your cigarette lighter in is in your car. This thing takes up some room with the neck and the head. The station surfing autoseek isn't bad, it's easy to manually fine tune. I do also like the fact it keeps track and monitors your car battery amperage. That's a nice, useful feature. There's always a bit of static with these things, Depending on electrical or radio interference, it can be frustrating. Keep fine tuning, but there is the chance your best result isn't to your liking. Overall this is a great product. I'm impressed by the features. Sound quality depends on where you live, but when it's good, it's GOOD.

Q: QuestionWhen you purchase this item does the charger come with it
Asked by Patsfan.
- A:Answer All you need is your current cable you're using for your phone or buy another because there's a charging port attached to the device.

Q: QuestionDoes it drain your car battery? I bought it and it stays on while the car is off, so is that a concern I should have?
Asked by Theo.
- A:Answer This will drain the car battery incredibly slowly, due to how little power is used to power while idle. With that being said, we would still recommend unplugging it if it is staying on while your car is off

Q: QuestionCould you use this item to broadcast to several car radios simultaneously? If they were all within range. Think - mini drive-in movie.
Asked by GeoB.
- A:Answer Because I was intrigued by your question, I tried it. Short answer: Yes! Longer answer: I have two cars and I started the ROAV in one of my cars (it is older and has no Bluetooth, which is why I bought this) and then tuned the car stereo in my other car (which is only a few years old) to the same FM band and the music played through the speakers in that car. The cars are only a few feet apart and I did not start it and try to see how far the signal would reach, but it was loud and clear next to each other, like they would be in a parking lot.

Q: QuestionHow does the Bluetooth work? Can I just plug into my cigarette hole & just connect it from my phone ?
Asked by Chelseaperez.
- A:Answer Yes. I use Bluetooth on my phone. You will look for the device on your Bluetooth and they will start to pair. Once done you find the unused station on the radio to use and then you can start listening to your music.

Q: QuestionThe description says it has 2 USB ports but a reviewer said it only had one. Which is it?
Asked by PodMagic.
- A:Answer It has two, 1 is only a charge port which is on the base of the 12 volt plug. The other USB port is on the transmitter itself, which can be used as a charge port or to plug in a flash drive. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionIf I have music on a flash drive that I want to play in the car, do I still need the phone with me or can I just plug the drive into this device. I want to be able to leave the phone home but still listen to my music.
Asked by Kingfish.
- A:Answer You do not need a phone when you use the thumb drive.

Q: QuestionI bought this unit and connected it to the AUX to eliminate hiss. The music works. When I go to make a phone call, the music cuts out and I cannot hear the phone call. If I switch it to the Iphone speaker I can hear the call,
Asked by Jon77.
- A:Answer Depending on the iphone model/OS version, you should be able to fix this via your sound/audio, connections/calls or other settings albeit that may be relatively hidden within the options. Older phones I have had similar issues with and were forced to use a headset/Plantronics mono audio earpiece to take calls strictly to that device and then allowing me to stream my music or podcasts continuously through via Aux or dual audio bluetooth. Q: QuestionAll I hear is static. Sometimes if I’m lucky I can hear some music through the static. I’ve tired almost every station and none of the let me hear anything clear.
Asked by Sam.
- A:Answer My experience, too. Couldn't do a thing to fix. It is garbage.
