I spent years trying to make cheap mini Android tablets work. I loved both versions of the Nexus 7 but Google killed them off. I tried others but the terrible update process and short shelf life of the devices eventually had me looking to Apple. I eventually bought an iPad Mini 2 and I instantly fell back in love with iOS. There is a reason iPad is the leader in tablet devices. It is so much better. I recently switched from Android to an iPhone 7 Plus and while I still liked my mini the screen size difference between that and the phone made it kind of silly to us both. Meanwhile I wanted more real estate for movies and for my daughter's school games. Enter the new 2017 iPad. A full sized tablet at a great price. I traded in my mini (Best Buy paid top dollar) and I am so glad I did. The new iPad is buttery smooth in performance, has a great screen, dual windows makes productivity a little easier and Touch ID is awesome. I have fully embraced the Apple ecosystem with the iPhone, Watch, desktop Mac and hopefully in the next few months will get a MacBook. Life in the Appleverse is awesome! Keychain makes my password management a breeze, iCloud Drive puts all my files where I can get to them. Sure I still use other services like Google Photos but that works across everything as well. Life is sweet in Appleville and I am glad I ditched Android. Sure the new iPad doesn't have some of the fit and finish of the iPad Air 2. If you own that tablet I wouldn't switch. If you are new to iPad or have a previous generation this is the device for you. The iPad keyboard would be nice but I have no use for the Apple pencil. So getting this over a Pro was an easy choice for me. With apps like duet display I can use this as a second laptop screen when out and about or just set it up and devote the tablet to specific work related tasks. Can this or a Pro replace a laptop? Not for me, not yet. I can say it is getting there and there are ways of using it to enhance what I do for work even though it cannot take over for a laptop or desktop. In short I say go out and grab this iPad, it is great!

I bought this iPad to replace my wife's ancient iPad 2. That old unit was still functioning but since it came out in 2011 it was beginning to show its age. It only had one speaker which did not play music very well. Also the screen was not the best for viewing or reading anything for extended periods of time. My wife had purchased that iPad 2 to replace her old laptop and absolutely loved using a tablet instead of a full computer or laptop. As soon as Apple released these new models last year, I knew I would grab one for Christmas. As luck would have it Best Buy also sent me a coupon due to prior purchases and then they had a sale which reduced the price of this iPad even further. I went to the store and played around with it and was immediately sold on it. I also played with the more powerful iPad Pro models but those seemed a bit much for my wife's simple uses. Now in addition to playing with Facebook and doing the online banking, my wife also watches some TV shows and movies on the gorgeous clear screen. It is a much brighter and clearer screen than the older iPad. I've read some reviewes that say that Apple cut corners on the display to keep the price down. I can say without question the display is very sharp and colorful and watching TV show or movie on it is very easy on the eyes. The only time there is difficulty is if using the iPad in the direct sunlight as that will kind of wash out the screen. I can't fault Apple or the iPad itself for this since direct sunlight will wash out pretty much any display - even the ones which are in cars. Don't let that dissuade you from picking one of these up for yourself. My wife also had me load some of her music on it and the two speakers on this machine just crank out the sound clear and strong enough to fill the living room or kitchen. Plus the kids will often grab it and play one of their games/apps on it and it gets heavy usage on car rides. We do not have any film or shield on the display screen and I will say it does pick up fingerprints after awhile. However any chamois cloth or one of the small towel things used to clean eye glasses will instantly removes the finger prints. Apple also includes a small cleaning cloth in the box. I would certainly recommend getting a decent case to protect the device when it is not in use. The on screen keyboard is OK for typing in short bursts but if you plan on doing a fair amount of writing then grab a keyboard case or even a bluetooth keyboard. Any model will work (we have an old Logitech that works perfectly). My wife bought a case that completely hugs the iPad making it look like a book. It can also be propped open on a table or her lap for watching a show on the screen. It's a great product and can, in the right circumstances, be your primary device. Remember that it is a tablet so I couldn't definitively say this would replace a full computer. The only thing I would say this iPad couldn't do well is edit video - but if that's what you do, then this wouldn't be your primary device anyway. Still, I highly recommend this iPad for you or a member of your family. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent Product At An Even Better Price

This product is perfect for many different people and uses. If you are someone looking for a device that is small enough to take with you but has a big enough display that you can use it more like a computer then a phone, this is the device for you. One example of someone who this product may be good for is a student who wants take it to class and attach a bluetooth keyboard to the iPad to be able to take notes. Another example would be a small business owner who wants to use the iPad as a cash register. There are many other ways you can use the device besides the two listed. The criteria I was looking for was portability, price, display, apps, and battery life. This device weighs one pound, so it is light, thin, and very easy to take with you, especially compared to laptops. Another important factor is the price. The price of this product is very reasonable compared to other devices similar to this. A third important element is the display, which is 9.7 inches and very clear. There are so many apps to choose from in the App Store. The battery life on this device is long lasting, which is nice so I don’t have it on the charger all the time. This product does not have all the capabilities that an iPad Pro has. For me that wasn’t a factor because I didn’t need the fancy technology of the Pro. I just needed a simpler device, and that is why this iPad was perfect for me. If you are interested in this product you should get it from Best Buy. I was able to price match the product from a competitor and get it for a little bit cheaper. Also I bundled the iPad with a bluetooth keyboard and got the keyboard for 50% off. You can’t beat a deal like that. I am very satisfied with this iPad and I would suggest it to anyone looking for one.

I bought the 32 GB iPad 2017, Silver, during last year's Black Friday sale on Thanksgiving. I had bought the iPad as an entry into Apple, after having owned an iPhone. Previous to owning an iPhone, I was strictly an Android/PC/Windows person. But after having owned an iPhone for nearly 2 years, I decided to go with the iPad for a tablet over the various Android tablets. I am planning to venture into selling online, and I wanted a tablet that I could use for my business. I bought a used Nikon DSLR from a photographer friend of mine to take pictures of my products, but then realized that I needed to edit some of the photos that I had taken (i.e., crop, enhance, photo montage, etc.). My PC laptop is getting old (it's nearly 6 years old), but has outlasted my previous laptops, which typically lasted 4 years or less. My current laptop is an i7, so that's why I think it has lasted so long (although when I do replace my laptop, it will most likely be MacBook Pro). If I were to buy photo editing software for my PC, it would cost me about one C-note to 1 1/2 C-notes to purchase for a laptop that will have to be replaced soon, The Apple app store has various Photoshop apps (Express, Mix, Fix, Lightroom CC, Sketch) as well as Adobe apps, for FREE! And most photographers and graphic artists know that Photoshop is the gold standard for photo editing. I am only taking fine quality JPEGs for online pictures, but intend on shooting raw pictures in the future. I bought the 32 GB iPad over the 128 GB, and bought a SanDisk iXpand 128 GB lightning flash drive, which was also on sale that weekend. With the discount on the IPad 32 GB and the discount on the 128 GB lightning flash drive, both together cost slightly less than the full selling price of the iPad 5th Generation 32 GB alone. And being on a budget, the combination of the two made a lot of sense.

Over a million apps available, A9 processor for split screen multi-tasking, able to work with Apple, Google, Microsoft services, from Hotmail, Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo and more. Microsoft Office, Google Documents, Apple iWork all available. iTunes Music, Spotify, Google Play, Groove Music, you name it. All services compatible. No worries of PC viruses, amazing gameplay and graphics from leading developers. Amazingly long battery life. It's almost like the best gaming, business, professional, casual, all-in-one device you can imagine at a price point that's more affordable than most plastic laptops from other brands. I'd recommend this iPad to anyone that needs an every day device, a school device, a business device, a gaming device, or anything you can think of. Want to use it as an alarm clock, check the news and weather, and pay bills? Get it. Want to multi-task documents, business emails, while wirelessly printing office work? Get it. Want to play 3D open-world games and support a bluetooth gamepad? Get it. Want to stay in bed all day, and listen to music, watch movies, and play on social networks? Get it. It does anything you want it to, minus the Apple Pencil features that the iPad Pros offer.

This new iPad is a steal at this new price. The screen is great and very bright. It is still light and comfortable to use. The build quality is excellent just like every apple product. It is also blazing fast. The A9 processor is no slouch. The jump from A8/A8X to A9 is huge. This tablet will perform for years to come and apple will support it for years to come. This is the perfect everyday for the everyday person for a very reasonable price. Not everyone needs the extra Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard support of the pro. This iPad sticks to what it is good for before the pro came out. This is great for lounging and browsing the web and email. It is also perfect for traveling. The battery life is amazing on it. It has lasted a good 5 days with moderate to heavy usage. For gaming it will run anything you throw at it no problem. For all the money you save on the pro's extra features you will not be disappointed. You won't even notice. Get it! It's a steal for an iPad!

I've had several iPads in the past. When my 4-year-old Air started to slow down with iOS 11, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I heavily considered the iPad Pro 10.5", and spent lots of time messing with it alongside the 9.7" (this model) in the store. Ultimately, I decided to go with the cheaper 9.7" model. When I got to thinking about it, I really will never use an iPad for real productivity; for that I have my MacBook Pro, which is infinitely more capable. I use my iPad for reading the news at the breakfast table on weekends, email, couch surfing, light gaming or photo editing. I'm 46 and very tech savvy, btw. This iPad will do anything the Pro can do, save for the smart keyboard (which is a ripoff anyway), and the apple pencil I can't ever see using (especially at $100). It still has multitasking, and all the other iOS 11 goodies. For those of you upgrading from an Air, the screen is a lot brighter than the Air, and it's much faster than the Air at loading internet pages, apps, etc. I picked this up on sale for $249, which is a LOT less than the $650 a Pro would have cost. Oh...one last thing. This model is the 32gb. I came from a 128gb Air with about 80gb being used. After archiving seldom used apps in the cloud, iCloud was able to fit everything I had onto this 32gb tablet, and I still have about 12gb to spare! If you're on the fence about this tablet, just get it. Even at the regular $329 price, it's a steal!

      Geek Squad Certified garbage

I bought this for my boyfriend because I loved my new iPad, however, for his we thought we'd save a few dollars and get the geek squad certified model (meaning it was opened and returned but not used I guess). That was a huge mistake, he constantly has problems with the sound, sometimes the iPad doesn't play any sounds whatsoever so he'll have to restart it a few times and basically work with it for 20 mins to get the sound going again. Other times when I FaceTime him I can't hear him at all. So, Best Buy sold me a geek squad certified item in "perfect condition" with a malfunctioning mic and sound system? I highly doubt that's a coincidence. The issues got so bad around two weeks after he had it that we started to look into exchanging it for a new one and just paying the difference, but alas best buys return policy is 15 days for this product. Long story short, DO NOT buy any open box, geek squad certified, or any other cheaper version of the iPad they offer you. This is an absolute huge problem and at times makes the iPad useless which makes me resent both geek squad and Best Buy.
