A: It will protect both devices to an extent, this isn't an Otterbox. The camera on the 3rd gen is different than the 4th gen but it will work for this case, if you were to put the 3rd gen, in this case, there would be a small gap of space on the backside because this case is intended for the 4th gen but they would both get the correct coverage for device protection it would just look odd with a gap of space on the backside with the 3rd gen.
