Q: QuestionSince this has a NPU why is it not a Copilot+ ?(1 answer)
A: AnswerIt is actually Copilot+ (minus a minor technicality that I’ll explain momentarily). In fact it’s the best and fastest/most powerful laptop CPU (well, APU actually) available that also has the fastest Copilot+ certified NPU AI Engine built-in (it’s about 50 TOPS, that is, 50 terra (50,000,000,000,000) AI operations per second. You see, Qualcomm signed a (temporary) exclusivity deal with Microsoft the effect of which was that only Qualcomm’s new ARM-based X Elite laptops could be called Copilot+ laptops at launch. [Some rather cynical folks might claim that only Qualcomm paid the requisite bribe, but there is no evidence for this, or at least insufficient evidence for the feds to invoke any antitrust action.] In reality, the primary aspects of the Copilot+ standard are an NPU with a power in the 45+ TOPS range, a sufficiently fast/powerful CPU (and probably enuf memory), and an extra keyboard button labeled Copilot+ for Windows to use (actually I’ve now also seen a micro-tabletop PC with such a button on the box). Now the spec was available to all laptop vendors using all CPU architectures, it’s just that only laptops with Qualcomm CPUs could call it a Copilot+ laptop up to and through the launch of the Qualcomm based Windows laptops - thus giving Qualcomm a sort-of media boost - and leading to some rather legitimate questions such as the one we’re answering here. Now the Qualcomm launch has happened, so I think the ban is over re calling a Copilot+ capable laptop a Copilot+ PC. But marketing has not caught up yet. Intel got the short end of the stick cuz although their fairly recent Ultra laptop series have a quite decent CPU containing a small NPU similar to the first- and second-generation AMD NPUs (which are 12 and 16 TOPS, respectively for AMD 7040 and 804x HS chips), those Intel and 1st/2nd gen AMD CPUs are nowhere near the Copilot-mandated minimum 45 TOPS. AMD fared better due to having acquired Xilinx and being in development of its 3rd gen XNA architecture for its NPU - to be released July 28 - and sporting 50 TOPS (and thus beating Qualcomm and beating Intel by a mile, at least until Intel probably catches up next round). So all Asus had to do was add the Copilot+ key to these new laptops containing AMD AI 300 series CPUs and voilla, you have a Copilot+ laptop. Note that the new AMD AI CPUs were renamed from AI 100 series to AI 300 series to denote that this is a 3rd gen AMD/Xilinx NPU architecture. (Bigger is better, lol, so I guess an AMD AI 9 HX 370 is better than an Intel Ultra 285H, right? Well it happens to be true in this particular case, yet still ya have to laugh at AMD and Intel competing on the naming battleground.) So this particular Asus P16 laptop, along with its brethren products the Zepherus G16 AMD version, are several of the best Copilot+ laptops available! The Copilot+ enabled variant of Windows 11 may or may not ship with the laptop (TBD). If not, it will be in the next Windows Update. There was such a bad reaction to the so-called keylogging feature that Microsoft had to disable that by default (whew!) so it may take a release or two to get a good version of Copilot. I recommend the AMD G16 2024 to gamers and the AMD P16 2024 to creators - both Copilot+ laptops. Also there are new 2024 Zenbooks that are Copilot+ as well cuz they have an AMD AI 300 series CPU and are really nice but have no discreet GPU, albeit the iGPU is claimed by some to be as fast as laptop 2050 GPU from a couple years ago.Answered by Anonymous
- A: AnswerWith the help of hubs/splitters, this laptop can technically run 8 displays simultaneously, including the built-in display: 1 built-in display, up to 3 displays on the USB4 port, and up to a total of 4 displays on the HDMI + USB3.2 port. The bandwidth available on each port will limit the resolution and frequency of the multiple displays connected in practice. Without the help of hubs/splitters, the laptop can be connected to 3 external monitors (one each on the HDMI, USB4, and USB3.2 port). Higher refresh rates are supported, except for 8K displays, which are limited to 60Hz. Note that this is not a gaming laptop and does not support VRR.

- A: AnswerCorrection - the name of the built-in iGPU graphics engine for the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (part of the new Strix Point series of laptop CPUs) is the 890M, not 980M. Per an early performance review the 890M is 60% faster than the graphics iGPU incorporated into the recently announced Qualcom laptop chips, as well as being 40% graphics-faster than AMD’s own last-gen 780M iGPU incorporated into Ryzen 4 8-core APUs such as 7940HS (Phoenix) or 8940HS or 8945HS (both Hawk Point). Also note that AMD still also makes a series of laptop APUs called by the nickname Fire range that typically come with 16 or 12 cores. The new Ryzen 9 HX 370 4+8 = 12 core part seems to be very competitive with the 12-core Fire Range parts, according to very early leaked performance reports on HX 370 engineering samples. But the 3D-Vcache flavor of 16-core Fire Range chips still holds the crown among all laptop chips, at least for now. Hopefully this will help Best Buy shoppers figure out where the HX 370 fits in AMD’s lineup of laptop chips.

Q: QuestionDoes the packaging include the bacpack and the stylus as we see in some reviews online ?(2 answers)
A: AnswerAlmost certainly no. Those reviews refer to purchases from the Asus web site but on Best Buy they typically do not make those bundles. Unless specifically stated in a Best Buy add, assume not. Honestly, the “Best” reason to “Buy” from Best Buy is to either get extended warranty coverage and/or Plus coverage/extended return window to a local brick and mortar store. For that you miss out on a cheap crappy backpack.Answered by Anonymous
- A: AnswerThis laptop model has two SSD slots, it will support a maximum size of 4TBNVMe M.2 SSD per slot.

Strong performing machine for creatives
This Asus ProArt P16 immediately impressed me with its robust art creation capabilities. It was clearly obvious who the intended audience is for this machine. It’s fantastic for media creation and productivity. Although it’s not the greatest gamer, it is more than good enough for casual gaming. Here’s my experience and feedback for the unit: The ProArt is a slim and easy to tote laptop. Despite the 16-inch screen size, I find the slim aluminum chassis lightweight, compact and easy to carry. The stylish slim form factor allows the ProArt to easily share the same sleeve space inside my backpack along with my 11-inch tablet. The power brick is also a good size rather than large and bulky. It too is easy to carry along with the laptop. The power brick utilizes a proprietary power supply connector rather than USB-C. It’s not a huge deal, just not as ubiquitous or as easy to replace as UB-C. The laptop has two USB-A and two USB-C ports, along with an SD card reader, HDMI, and audio ports. The 4K HDR OLED touch screen looks great. The panel shows no signs of graininess nor any other noticeable flaws. It sports deeply saturated colors, true blacks, and has excellent brightness. Colors aren’t as far off as I thought they might be. They’re much more pronounced and a touch more saturated than my drawing tablet, but for the most part they retain their hue nicely. I only noticed significant differences between my tablet and the OLED screen when it came to darker colors on the differing type displays, but this was expected. The P16 OLED has much more saturated colors, but the hues are still very similar, so it doesn’t throw off my sense of color too much. I’m happy with how beautiful everything looks. I haven’t noticed any blurriness, image retention or burn-in even after lengthy periods working on mostly static images. The 60Hz refresh while on the low side, feels snappy and responsive enough during gaming or media playback. The 500-nit brightness is vivid and sufficient for any tasks at hand. The Ryzen AI 9 and RTX 4060 powered ProArt P16 tears through media creation, particularly digital art. It also handles most 2D desktop apps like office suites, effortlessly. Prior to the ProArt, I was using another notebook that was also specifically designed for media creation. It has somewhat similar specs but older components (AI9, RTX4060, 32GB DDR on the P16 vs i7, RTX3050Ti, 32GB DDR on the other model). The older notebook frequently encountered issues when working with larger brushes, numerous layers, and complex textures in art programs. The ProArt effortlessly plows through projects with ease and never stumbles regardless of the tools selected or amount of cached content. It was such a pleasant experience to not have the software slow down simply for choosing too large a brush. Bear in mind, the performance boost mostly applies to media creation. The newer ProArt PC is actually a less robust gamer than the previous laptop mentioned above. It can play medium to med/high quality games at acceptable frame rates. However, some of the more demanding resource intensive games AAA titles I tried caused freezing, stuttering, and crashing. Less resource hungry games play fine and without issue. Medium graphics quality seems to be the sweet spot for the more demanding games that it can play. Real world talk, this machine can handle less demanding games fine, but I’d consider a more gaming focused option if planning to regularly play resource intensive games. The P16 normally runs quiet under low and regular loads but the fans can get pretty loud when the system is taxed. Battery life is acceptable and provides a full day of light to moderate usage. This usage consists of non-continuous drawing sessions, web browsing and productivity. For gaming and more intensive tasks, I prefer being connected to AC power. The speakers have a warm profile and sound somewhat decent. There isn’t much (or hardly any) bass, but the speakers sound good enough for listening to music while working. I prefer listening through a headset for better immersion while gaming. The HD camera is basic fare. It’s good for occasional use, but I’d opt for a better quality USB camera if I had to participate in regular video chats or conferences. On the plus side, the camera is Windows Hello compatible and allows the facial recognition login option. The trackpad and keyboard are both solid. The backlit keys have good low light visibility, along with solid feel and good travel. The large trackpad is reliably responsive and easy to navigate. The integrated DialPad is an excellent companion for shortcuts and some tasks that I’d normally use keyboard shortcuts for. The DialPad integrates better with more mainstream editors and drawing programs but also works with lesser known titles as well. It just takes a little more effort to customize than it would on an app like PS. Overall, the P16 is an excellent artistic and general use machine. Gaming performance isn’t the strongest but is good enough for less demanding titles. The machine is lightweight and easy to transport, has ample ports, a beautiful screen and feels reliably constructed. It’s an excellent machine for creatives with realistic gaming expectations.
