A: It's about 16 1/2 " from jack to jack without being stretched - much too short to use as a wall phone, but would be ok on my night table. I purchased a longer coiled cord because I wanted to use it on my kitchen wall.- A: No,you can adjust the volume to be quiet or louder ,but not off.Thanks Pat
