Synopsis

Baby Mama
Former Saturday Night Live "Weekend Update" co-anchors Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-star in this baby-fever comedy about a single, career-oriented woman who previously put parenthood on hold, and is forced to hire a surrogate mother when she discovers there is only a one-in-a-million chance that she will be able to get pregnant. Kate Holbrook (Fey) is a 37-year-old business executive who has always put her professional life before her personal life, but these days her biological clock is ticking louder than ever before. As with everything else she has accomplished in life, Kate is determined to have a child on her own terms. Unfortunately for Kate, the chance of her ever becoming pregnant is slim to none. Undaunted, a willful Kate drafts South Philly working-class girl Angie Ostrowiski (Poehler) -- a woman who may just be her polar opposite -- to be a surrogate mother. Subsequently informed by the head of the surrogacy center (Sigourney Weaver) that her surrogate is indeed pregnant, the excited mother-to-be soon purchases every child-rearing book she can find and excitedly begins the nesting process. But life hasn't quit throwing Kate curveballs just yet, because when a pregnant Angie shows up on her doorstep with no place to live, the woman who once thrived on order finds her life descending into chaos. Now, as Kate attempts to transform Angie into the ideal expectant mother, this odd couple will discover that families aren't always biological, but occasionally formed through friendship as well. Writer Michael McCullers, who authored the screenplays for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Undercover Brother in addition to working on Saturday Night Live, makes his feature directorial debut with a self-penned screenplay. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Liked this movie, Tina Fey really captures the emotional life of a woman highly successful in her professional life who finds herself in a quandary about how to find fulfillment now in her personal life as it regards to having a child and ultimately her own family to share it with. Amy Poehler is at her best in this flick as the surrogate who is commissioned with the task of carrying Tina Fey's child into the world, but in the process while doing so finds her own direction in life. Hilarious, smart funny and with a great supporting cast you will enjoy all the way through until its somewhat, but not too, surprising ending.

What can I say, I enjoy this film for what it is. Fey & Poehler are brilliant together. I have always enjoyed Dax Shepard starting from when I 1st saw him on Punk'd Video quality = average - the biggest plus are the bright colors but I have seen much better Audio quality = lacking Extras = basically non existent This release gives perspective as to how far Blu-ray has come since 2008 when this title was released. It bares all the flaws of Blu-ray in it's fledgling stages. I am hoping for a better release as 4K gets traction & evolves.

Baby Mama was an impulse buy, in the bargin Blu-Ray bin and I picked it up. I'm a fan of Tina Fey and Amy Pohler and they make a great comedy duo in the movie. It was funny but slightly missed the mark, I think that if these two funny ladies were allowed to just adlib and run with it the movie could have been hilarious. That being said, the price was right and I'm not disappointed.

This movie was reasonably priced and actually prices lower than where we looked elsewhere. It's a great comedy and the bluray quality was perfect. It's a must have if you're into collecting comedy movies. We've watched it twice since we purchased it and it's been comical each time. We are very satisfied with the purchase!

I love this movie. When I first seen the preview and seen that Tina Fey and Amy P were starring, I knew it was something that I had to see. Just viewing the women on Saturday Night Live sitcom tells me that it was a movie worth paying to see at the theater. And now it is definately worth paying to add to my collection!!!

Baby Mama is a fairly formulaic comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. If you like these two, you'll probably enjoy the movie enough. The blu-ray release is just okay -- sporting average picture and sound quality. However, this movie isn't one that really demands a strong technical release.

    Good Date Movie

This is the perfect date movie that you only need to see once. There are some funny parts and the plot isn't too bad. However, it is very predicatable and it doesn't take you long to guess where the movie is going. Amy Poehler actually steals the show from Tina Fey and does a much better job acting.

While the idea of the movie had potential, it came out flat. There were certain parts of the movie that dragged and when a funny scene was coming, you could see where the gag was going to go. I'm glad I didn't see this in the theater, but if I had nothing else better to do I guess I could watch it.
