Q: How's the comfort? I feel like it would be worth the price point if they are comfortable. I have A50's now and they make my ears sore if worn for a couple hours. Thanks for your take on the comfort level of these.

A: The Portals are very comfortable, and can be worn for extended periods of time without issue. I have not tried the A50s, but I was unable to wear Steelseries headsets for longer than an hour or two without discomfort due to the clamping pressure.

Q: How does this compare to the likes of the Audeze Penrose for an audiophile-grade wireless gaming/multipurpose solution?

A: They are much more comfortable for one. The Penrose X is one of the least comfortable headsets I have owned. The Penrose are louder and have a much more pronounced bass response. The Portal have a very clear and balanced sound and some really cool controls. The mic sounds better on the Penrose but there is a boom mic where the Portal only has a mic array that works pretty well. They both work very well and are very clear. Positional sound is really good on both. The software for the portal app make updating sound settings on the fly a breeze. If you are planning to use them for more than games I would grab the Portal. Just gaming I would probably go for the Penrose as long as you dont have a big head (size 8)

Q: Can I listen to music while gaming?

A: No, not at this time. B&O claims this is done to give you the lowest latency while giving you the best connection.

Q: Does the microphone stay muted even after powering off then on again? I don't want to have to mute it every single time I turn them on. Really hoping it stays muted because I don't like using my mic on Xbox ever.

A: No it goes to a default for all settings at power on with mic on. But it becomes habit to connect to it via the app after powering on to set Volume, Mute, ANC level and such and have a visual representation of these settings.

Q: When plugged into a PS5 does it still take advantage of the Tempest 3D audio?

A: Yes, it works with PS5 3D Tempest audio if you plug in directly to the controller with the audio jack.

Q: Is there a USB-Bluetooth adapter that I can use with this to connect wirelessly to a PS5?

A: The PS5 can connect to the Beoplay Portal using a Creative BT-W3 transmitter, which is capable of using the headset's low latency AptX-adaptive codec. While connected, it will register as a tempest 3d audio headset, as well.
