Have your new car deck installed neatly, reliably and professionally by a Geek Squad Autotech. Our Autotechs are MECP-certified, and their workmanship is warrantied for life. Plus, if you ever sell your vehicle, we'll reinstall your factory stereo for free. Additional materials fees apply; see below for more details.*
Preparing your car
We'll go through a preinstallation checklist, then remove your old deck, along with any dashboard panels necessary to reach the deck.
If necessary, we'll connect a wiring harness (sold separately) to your factory wiring, which allows the new deck to be installed and the factory deck to be reinstalled if you ever sell the vehicle.
Factory-installed look and functionality
We'll reinstall surrounding dash panels, along with any required dashboard kits (sold separately) for a natural-looking fit. Any antenna adapters (sold separately) will also be installed and connected.
To finish, we'll perform a postinstallation checklist, vacuum the work area, and give you a demonstration of the deck's features.
How to redeem and schedule your installation:
After ordering, you'll get a redemption e-mail containing a key code that validates your order. Find your nearest installation center and call to schedule an appointment.
What to bring to your installation appointment:
Bring a printout of your redemption e-mail, the deck you want installed, and any other parts you may have purchased for the installation.
*Standard installation does not include vehicle-specific parts or accessories. For dash installation, the cost of parts will vary. Such parts and any additional parts or extensive labor are extra.
Your Geek Squad Autotech will provide an estimate prior to performing work that requires an additional charge (including nonstandard installation) and any additional parts. Any additional charges will be assessed after the installation is complete.
One of the best things I could’ve done in 2020 was trust Bryan with this service. I was nervous going in my appointment but he made me feel safe by explaining in detail everything he was going to do before and he explained everything he did once finished. I also witness him disinfect my vehicle and handle it entirely with care. I’m completely obsessed with how my radio installation turned out. Great guy, great service!!! I’ll definitely be back to get some more stuff done! Before and after pics below!
Have used Best Buy Geek Squad for my cd/receiver installation in 3-4 cars in last 2 years they are the best Very professional and timely and do great work .I have been very pleased with their work every time These receiver installations were all done for free with the purchase of the receiver yet they were timely with appointments, courteous and pleasant. I found their work to be superior allway got car back clean and looking better after install than when i brought car in could not tell work was done yet everything always worked perfect and they always gave me back old receivers and offered to reinstall if i sold car They are the Best at what they do Thank You
A:AnswerNo, you don't have to purchase the radio from Best Buy. That is the cool thing about their GS Install. You could purchase the deck, the harness, and the install kit elsewhere and have them install it!
A:AnswerYou'll also have to purchase the kit that adapts the radio to your dash as well as the wiring harness. You may also have to buy a microphone and a Sirius XM receiver and antenna if your new radio is so equipped. That's what I did and have loved it. I went to the Best Buy in the mall so I could have them install it while I walked around some then stopped for lunch. They called me when it was done. It was very easy and and aftermarket radio I buy in the future will be installed by my local Geek Squad.
A:AnswerYou have to buy two or three addl relatively inexpensive pieces, depending on your car:
* a wiring harness that is specific to your car and to the new radio. You will unplug the wiring connector that goes to your old radio and plug that wiring connector into one end of this wiring harness piece. The other end of the wiring harness piece plugs into your new radio.
* an "installation kit" thing which is really some plastic and/or metal cutouts that fit the dash area of your car. These pieces allow your new radio to fit in securely to your dash and, again, are specific to the new radio model and your car model.
* I did not need an antenna adapter, but apparently it is sometimes necessary to allow your existing antenna wire (that you remove from your old radio) to plug into the new radio. On mine, it was the same connector so no need for this part.
In short, the "additional hardware" refers to some bits that are specific to car make and model, so they cannot practically include these pieces in the box of the new radio since they don't know what kind of car you have!
A:AnswerIf you installed it through Best Buy I believe it comes with lifetime warranty uninstall if you sell the vehicle. I remember the guy telling me something like this when I installed mine that if I wanted to put my factory radio back in if I ever trade car in just bring it back... check into it if you originally purchased through Best Buy save lots $$. Their car guys are awesome
