A Timeless Masterpiece----
||Posted .This is a tremendous Blu Ray Digital Revival of one of the all time great films. If you have never seen this film----then you don't know what you are missing. The price is right for this Blu Ray Disk and the extras are just wonderful. Here's Looking at You Kid---spoken by the great Humphrey Bogart is terrific and Ingrid Bergman is truly one of the most beautiful women in this movie. The Xtra about Michael Curtiz being the best director that You never heard of is very interesting, also.

CASABLANCA NEVER LOOKED BETTER
||Posted .Even after 70 years, the greatness of CASABLANCA remains timeless. This captivating classic, so vividly played out and cinematically crafted, is a textbook example of the Hollywood studio system at its absolute best. The 70th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition restores the film's pictorial splendor, surpassing the previous version which used too much DNR. This time the film's inherent grain texture isn't smoothed away along with a measure of sharpness, but is evenly configurated resulting in perfect black and white image resolution that replicates 35mm film. CASABLANCA is offered both as a Blu-ray/DVD special combo package and as a single Blu-ray disc. The big set comes with an array of bonus material, much of which was bumped over from the previous Blu-ray edition, including the commentaries by Roger Ebert and Rudy Behlmer. There's also some photographic and printed memorabilia, and a few new documentaries on the making of the film, on its director, Michael Curtiz, another on the history of Warner Bros., and one on its chief mogul, Jack L. Warner. The single Blu-ray has all the video/audio extras except the two Warner documentaries, and doesn't include any memorabilia items. One of my all-time top favorites, CASABLANCA is a movie I enjoy playing again and again, and if that's true of you, then this upgrade is a must.

a strong blu ray
||Posted .certainly a classic everyone should have in their blu ray library, Casablanca represented here at a very affordable version, I came in with a few concerns, 1. would it be clear enough to represent the films true greatness, and be clear enough to stretch across my giant (9 ft by 16 ft )projection screen? 2. would the picture size the dreaded "square" shape, with black side bars ,distract from the movies presentation? to answer the first concern, as soon as you see the initial credits, the clarity is obviously stunning, not the type of blu ray with occasionaly blurs, maybe the black and white helps somehow, but all in all I was blown away by how absolutely crystal clear it was. as far as the size of the picture, this is boxed in the "square" version, obviously limited by the size of the original print, since the movies of the 40's were "square shaped, and this is surely intended to represent a 100% accurate representation of those original screenings. I did find it lessened my enjoyment, BUT, an important fact, I DO have a "stretch" option for my projector (as i suspect your TV or projector should have also), and after this manipulation, to my preferred 16x9 size, the picture still seemed to maintain it's proper "look", it didn't look "stretchy", and even amazingly maintained a fantastic level of clarity.. so problem solved!

Eh.. what's not to love? Fantastic restored icon!!
||Posted .Owned for 6 months when reviewed.Eh.. what's not to love? Fantastic restored image and audio and extra and extra and extras included content is the coup de grace for us Hollywood nerd types.. That extra content is what you get when you buy it. You never see this when streaming from all these providers these days.. though you could search YouTube and find some poor quality something but.. nope.. not for me and one of MY top 3 movies of all time
