Old game but still fun to play
|Posted .I remember his old game, I had it on my Wii but it was a demo and purchasing the full game, now I can finish this game. Even thought this game came out back in 2004, it's still a fun game to play

Fun Platformer
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendGreat game! Reminds me of the original Metroid in some ways, searching for new weapons and abilities. Does a good job at directing you. My kids love the game. Two things: The controls feel wonky. I'm not sure if it's just year of muscle memory fighting me or what, but it feels like the jump and shoot buttons should be reversed. I have a really hard time playing because of this. Doesn't seem to bother my kids though. Secondly, the multiplayer component feels a little clunky, as if one of you die, you both die. Not having any chance of revival or continued play and killing off the other player is frustrating at times.

Own the Legend
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendDaisuke "Pixel" Amaya's Cave Story is considered by many to be one of the first famous independent games. Before everybody and their cousin was cranking out "metroidvanias" on Steam, Amaya gave us the staples that would define a modern gaming revolution: retro pixel-art graphics, large interconnected 2D world, cute, quirky characters, and a narrative touched with mystery and alittle sadness. Taken of its own merits, Cave story is a fantastic game. A mixture of Metroid's exploration, and Contra's devil-may-care run and gun gameplay. There's a variety of weapons to collect and upgrade. All of them are fun to blast away with! The game's cozy, compact nature also makes it a perfect fit for the Switch hardware. This is only the second time that Cave Story has been made available in physical form for collectors, and the 3DS release from years ago often demands a high price on the 2nd hand market. The folks at Nicalis recognized the collectible status of this release, and put together one heck of a package. Along with the game, you'll get a mini soundtrack CD and a lovely full-color instruction manual stylized those that came with classic NES games. It's a must buy!

Fun short game, but really expensive for it
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis game is $30 on the Switch while starting price on the 3DS is $10, this range is price made me hold off from buying until recently. I bought it using my GCU 20% off and a $5 promotional gift from BestBuy which helped ease how much this game cost. Since I paid $19+tax, ill review it as such. The game has many small puzzles and doesnt hold your hand too much on what to do. Other games in this genre for this price are repetitive while this game has a small story that is pretty great. I would recommend this game for teen or adults as younger kids would probably not be able to progress within the game as easily.

Fun so far
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI am new to this game entirely. Somehow I never really heard of it until now. I am only about 2 hours in but I'm confident this is a great game. It has fun puzzles, challenging 2D gameplay and cool stuff to unlock. It does seem to be missing a few conveniences. For example, I had to fight a boss several times before I beat it, and each time had to push through the dialogue before the battle. But whatever, at $30 this game is worth it.

Quirky Platformer RPG
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCave Story was an odd experience for me because I bought it thinking it was an action RPG only to quickly realize it's much more of a platformer with RPG elements. Despite this (and the fact I'm not a big platformer fan) this games charm and creative game play won me over. I appreciated the creative and somewhat silly story. The retro art style is well executed. The platforming challenges were mostly fun and only occasionally rage inducing. The end of the game does get quite difficult though.

Great homage to 16 bit gaming!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAn odd control scheme and very little tutorial does not detract from this being one of the most endearing 'nindies' to finally find its way to the Nintendo Switch. With surprisingly deep customisation and brilliant level design combined with a great soundtrack this is a must have for any fan of the 'Metroidvania' genre. An additional incentive to purchase the physical copy of this game is what comes with it. Included with the game is an awesome booklet of controls and original artwork, reminicient of the booklets that used to come with games in the late 80's/early 90's. And that's not all...also included is a cd minidisc of several tracks of the soundtrack for those who really got into the music of 'Cave Story'. The learning curve is a bit rough at first due to a slightly different control scheme (down arrow to enter door!) but is a small price to pay once gotten used to. All in all very much worth getting the physical edition of this fun and challenging game. Highly Recommend!
