I remember his old game, I had it on my Wii but it was a demo and purchasing the full game, now I can finish this game. Even thought this game came out back in 2004, it's still a fun game to play

The original version was for the PC as freeware. It has gone through several iterations to arrive at the Switch version, including both original and new graphics, four sets of soundtracks, and extra content. The physical version also includes a great PRINTED manual, something you don't see very often any more.
The game can remain fairly easy depending on choices you make in game, or much more difficult, with a bonus dungeon at the end.

This game is $30 on the Switch while starting price on the 3DS is $10, this range is price made me hold off from buying until recently. I bought it using my GCU 20% off and a $5 promotional gift from BestBuy which helped ease how much this game cost. Since I paid $19+tax, ill review it as such. The game has many small puzzles and doesnt hold your hand too much on what to do. Other games in this genre for this price are repetitive while this game has a small story that is pretty great. I would recommend this game for teen or adults as younger kids would probably not be able to progress within the game as easily.

Cave Story is a 2D sidescroller comprised of fun characters, interesting weapons and a very compelling story. Despite being a fairly old game at this point, it is still very fun to play and for all those out there that still haven't experienced it, the Switch is a new way to try it out. It has been enhanced in the graphics and sound departments and there's a promised coop mode coming soon. Only downside is the price tag, with $30 being a bit too much for such and old game. Otherwise, I would recommend grabbing it if you have a Switch.

It's a blast to play! The controls and graphics are excellent and I would recommend this game to pretty much anyone. Coop is a blast in this game.

I originally had no plans on getting this game.. but after reading that this game was developed by a 1 man team developer. I decided to buy it to support him. I was blown away with how good the game was, it is really addicting. The game play and story are truly engaging, plus the game came with a soundtrack cd and a manual. Things that rarely comeby this day with video games.

I bought this game because it looked very fun. It took a couple plays but it has grown on me. It is a little challenging, but the graphics are beautiful and it was worth the buy!

This game is very fun and has a great sprite art style but also a more "updated" style available as well, along with retro 8/16 bit music with many different types to choose from. The biggest and only real complaint I have about it is the price. It has been available now on multiple platforms at varying prices for quite some time and unfortunately the Switch version is one of, if not the, most expensive version. Try to get it on sale if you can or on a different platform if that is an option.

Probably the best version of this game but also the most expensive. Game feels kind of dated. The jump mechanics feel sloppy and the dialogue kills me when you have to watch the same long scene, if you die, between save points. Just gimme a skip button! Sound can be changed but I have not noticed any graphic choices. Weird but I'd rather play Shantae

I've heard about Cave Story for years but I dont play on PC so I never played it for myself until now. Its a great pixel art style platformer/run and gun/adventure game that has an awesome story and an amazing soundtrack which if you buy this version you get a copy of. It may be a bit pricey at 30$ But if you love retro style games its well worth it.

Pretty amazing game. Always nice to get a manual and mini cd included in the case as well. Switch version is of course more expensive than PC, but getting it physically, as well as being able to play it portably is worth the extra cost in my humble opinion.

Cave Story has always been a great game. The First version I played was homebrew on the PSP. The Switch version does not disappoint. Controls feel great, the graphics are just as good as ever, the music sounds great, and the story is just right. Two thumbs up.

If you're expecting fancy graphics or a symphonic sound track you won't find either here. If you want a nearly flawless game, with amazing play, an incredible old school soundtrack, and just sheer gaming pleasure? Pick this up and don't hesitate. This thing should be in at least the top 100 of all time. It's made it on several platforms and remains extraordinary.

I had no idea this game was going to be so much fun. It plays just like an old school NES game and the music is terrific. It is a game that has been around on many different platforms over the years but this was my first time playing and I am so glad that I gave it a shot. I would recommend this game to anyone!

Got this game because of some great reviews I read after buying my Switch. It's a must have for any Switch owner, especially if you're a gaming parent who bought the console mainly for the family. This game, along with Zelda, will have you playing Switch long after the kids go to bed.

I am new to this game entirely. Somehow I never really heard of it until now. I am only about 2 hours in but I'm confident this is a great game. It has fun puzzles, challenging 2D gameplay and cool stuff to unlock. It does seem to be missing a few conveniences. For example, I had to fight a boss several times before I beat it, and each time had to push through the dialogue before the battle. But whatever, at $30 this game is worth it.

I was skeptical about picking up this rerelease of an older game for the Switch, but my apprehension was quickly assuaged. Everything about this release is charming. From the bonus physical media included (an instruction manual and a mini audio cd) to the cute character design to the story: this game found so many subtle ways to make me smile. The whole experience really was like a throwback to classic game experiences, but Cave Story+ is more sophisticated than most of its influences. If you like old school platform/adventure games (including the old school difficulty), you should pick this one up.

Holy Cow! How have i not heard of this game for so long?? I got this as a gift and i knew this was going to be a special game about a half-hour in. The action is great. The weapon system is great. The story is AMAZING. It is not a simple story meant for all kids... there is no hand-holding and requires YOU to connect the dots. Great replay value. I've played through it 4 times and am now working on challenges. I have given this game to 3 of my friends because it is so good. If you like challenging mega man/metroid/blaster master style games... just buy this. It is amazing!

I have already played this game on the 3ds when it first came out, but this feels like a better experience. The controls feel a lot better on the switch then on the 3ds and you have the option to play in on a tv screen. However, the only downside is that the graphics are more or less the same.
