Synopsis

Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man
The artists of the internationally acclaimed performing arts troupe Cirque du Soleil appear in this dramatic fantasy, shot in the high-definition IMAX format, which celebrates the human spirit as it follows the life of one man from childhood to old age. The Taiko Drummers perform in a sequence that represents the dawn of mankind, and a synchronized swimming team performs a water ballet that symbolizes the beginning of life. The Flounes (Josette Dechene and Paul Vachon), a pair of stylized clowns, guide the boy (Nicky Dewhurst) as he encounters the Bungees, aerial acrobats who leap from the trees in a forest. The youth (Chris VanWagenen) learns the importance of bravery and strength as he sees the Cuba Man (Mikhail Matorin) juggle with a giant metal sculpture. The performers of the Statue Act (Yves Decoste and Marie-Laure Mesnage) teach the young man (Kenny Raskin) the delicate balance of the relationship between men and women. The importance of joy and adventure are reinforced as the man witnesses the striking acrobatic performance of the Banquine. And as the journey draws to a close, the mature man (Brian Dewhurst) arrives at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, ready to pass his wisdom along to a new generation. Cirque du Soleil: The Journey of Man was shot on location around the world using 3-D technology , giving the artists the opportunity to perform in spectacular natural settings and striking man-made backdrops. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A Cirque de Soleil performance in 3D would , of course, boggle the mind. Here it's more of a coming of age fable with a voice over from... well you'll recognize the voice, which spells out the moral of this story, leaving no meaning questions. Sit back, enjoy, the only thing you'll be asking is '"How can they do that?!!!"

I would recommend this movie to anyone just starting out. I have watched 3d on directv and this movie is also great. I cannot compare it to any other 3d dvds because i have not yet viewed any. Over all it is a great movie for the whole family to get started in viewing 3d. A very enjoyable movie.

This was a great 3-D movie. If you like cirque de soleil shows this is a great way to show family and friends what their missing out on In real life. I have some 3Dmovies I paid a lot more for and don't nearly have as much 3Deffect more depth than anything. I hope cirque de soleil come out with more 3D blu-rays!

It is your typical Cirque type acrobatics etc. The new thing is that in 3d it does have an extra sensory in to the mix and I would myself enveloped by the show. The under water section is a great show. Having seen a few productions in Las Vegas this is up to par with them.

Best 3D movie I have seen not in movies. It shows as if everything is jumping out at you. Well worth the money, and would highly recommend to show what 3D is all about.

Nice DVD, but too expensive for the length. Nice visual effects but there are movies you can spend your money on that is 3D that has better cost value

I remember seeing this many years ago in IMAX. Picture and sound are good, 3D is well done. Unfortunately it is a bit short.
