    Synopsis

    Cujo
Based on a Stephen King novel, Cujo is not as menacing or as frightening as other film adaptations of King's popular stories and especially cannot compare to the 1976 Carrie. Cujo is a happy St. Bernard until he is bitten on the nose by a rabid bat and slowly begins manifesting the symptoms of his fatal illness. His condition deteriorates as he attacks people again and again, until finally, mom Donna Trenton (Dee Wallace) and her son Tad (Danny Pintauro) are trapped inside the family car with Cujo lurking nearby, set to kill them any way he can. A showdown is inevitable but is as predictable as the rest of the film. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

A wonderful adaptation from Stephen King's book. A woman (Dee Wallace) whose marriage is on the rocks takes her dying Pinto to the farm of a local mechanic (Ed Lauter). Once there, she & her son (Danny Pintauro) discover that the only one there is the mechanic's St. Bernard Cujo. They also quickly realize that Cujo, due to contracting rabies, has now become a merciless, vicious monster. The scenes with mother & son trapped in their car in the dead of summer with an implacable beast just outside will put you on edge. The performances are fine, but the scene stealer is Cujo himself. His transformation from the sweet, cuddly hound at the film's beginning to the exact opposite as the film progresses is both heartbreaking and amazing. If any animal deserved an Oscar for acting, it's this one.

I saw this movie when I was little and was terrified. I bought it on dvd and watched it and wasn't as terrified but I was still amazed at how good of a movie it was. When they are trapped in the car for all that time, wow it is stressfull!!!

Cujo, Blu-ray Olive Films 2013 transfer. I do recall that "Cujo" seemed more menacing as a kid. Somewhat tame by today's horror/thriller standards, but still has it's "edge of the seat" moments that will keep you entertained.
