Hilarious game, but lacking in replay value

Bought this game after watching a video of someone getting some of the Achievements for it. At first I was a little hesitant about getting it because I knew barely anything about Deadpool. Thankfully you don't have to in order to enjoy the game. As the title suggests, the game is about Deadpool a mutate mercenary for higher from the Marvel Comics universe and a character that is constantly breaking the 4th Wall. The game starts off with Deadpool taking on a contract and then the story takes off from there. Depending on your skill level, the difficulty you play on and whether or not you want to get all the achievements, gameplay can last from 6-35hrs. The game uses its character's affinity for absurd dialog and actions quite well. High Moon leaned on this heavily and there's barely a scene where Deadpool doesn't do something to make you laugh. High Moon also made sure to include a lot of 4th Wall breaking goodness. Taking heavy amounts damage will have Deadpool telling you to give someone else the controller, pets included, and deaths will earn you a quick rant. There are a few instances in the game where Deadpool will go so far as call up the Development team to complain about what is happening in game. Story wise, the game is sort of straight forward. Sort of as in, you are playing Deadpool's game and there is other stuff going on, but it is not important to Deadpool. There is a general "stop the bad guy, save the world" theme, but the exact nature of this is thrown out by Deadpool himself and you never actually learn what the bad guy is trying to do. The game is pretty much linear and doesn't offer a branching storyline of some sort. Comedy plays a heavy hand in everything, but this unfortunately makes replay value drop quickly. One can only hear the same joke so many times before it gets old. Gameplay wise, it's "use various weapons to kill a bunch of a bad guys". There isn't that much variety in the enemies in the game. You will see same guys throughout the game with the only difference being what grouping they appear in. There are a total of 4 boss battles in the game and the latter 2 felt somewhat lazy. Case and point, the final battle is that you have to progressively battle 20-30 of the same guy, with only a slight variation in each wave. Navigation is quite easy with a pretty linear path and very few puzzles to deal with. Unfortunately the linearity of things made backtracking impossible. There were a few instance where after you jumped on a ledge, the game would set the death line immediately below the ledge so jumping backing down to get your loot from an enemy, that you may have knocked of the edge, was impossible. One of my biggest qualms with the game was checkpoints. There are several points where the game will screw you over with checkpoints. Depending on where a checkpoint is set to go off, you may end up fighting guys you have killed before triggering it. In the last level, you have to kill 2 melee enemies and a flying enemy. After killing them and triggering the checkpoint you would expect to never see them again, well that is not what happens. When you return to the checkpoint all 3 will be waiting for you and you have to fight them again with the same ammo you had when you triggered the checkpoint. This made it extremely annoying when you have to use only 2 specific weapons to get an Achievement. Another major flaw is the spacing of the checkpoints. There were a couple of occasions where you have to battle some seriously annoying enemies and then battle some more in the next area with no checkpoint inbetween. If you died, then you have to repeat both battles again. Achievement wise, they are all pretty easy with only the 300 hit combo and the 5 medals in challenge mode providing any difficulty. Aside from the checkpoints and lack of variety in the enemies, the game was quite fun. Depending on your skill level, the comedic dialog might keep you playing the game if you start with the games hardest difficulty. In terms of pricing, the game would be better priced at 39.99, but is fine at 49.99. If you are looking for a game to make you laugh, then this is your game. I have never laughed as hard at a videogame before. Here's hoping for either a sequel or maybe some good DLC. Note: I started the game on the hardest difficulty #Ultra-Violent# and used the other difficulties to get the Achievements I missed. In total it took me 32-35 hours to beat the game and get all the Achievements.

This game cannot be compared to games like "The Last of Us" or "Batman: Arkham City" as it is not as technical or in-depth as games like that BUT if you are a fan of Deadpool then this game is a must have. This is the funniest game I have ever played. No game before this one has ever had me actually laughing to the point of tears. The action can be a bit repetitive at times but that does not mean the game is not fun. There are some wonderful animations that go with his combos and when you perform his momentum moves. Silent kills can be performed in certain areas and each weapon has 2 different silent kill animations. Each weapon also has numerous upgrades available. The writer of the game, Daniel Way, also a writer for the Deadpool comics, totally nails the character again for this game. Combined with the voice genius of Nolan North, Deadpool is never at a loss of words when fighting a group of villains or making anatomy size jokes while standing at a urinal. This game is meant to just pick up the controller, mash some buttons, and decapitate and maim endless waves of enemies. I believe it was Activision and High Moon Studios' goal to create a simplistic but extremely fun game that is not taken too serious due to that is not in the character's nature and for that I believe they have succeeded. Deadpool is the Three Stooges of the Marvel Universe and this game does a perfect job of capturing him and all his crazy 4th wall breaking hijinks. 4 out of 5 stars easy!

I was really excited for this game to come out on Xbox 360. However, after playing it, I'm a lil disappointed. While Deadpool's inner and outer dialogue with his multiple personalities as well as other characters in the game is nothing short of comedic genius, the storyline, or lack thereof, is slightly disheartening. Also, from level to level, it starts to feel fairly repetitive. The graphics, audio and gameplay is pretty good for the most part. The witty banter, the use of other characters from the Marvel Universe and the leveling up system are enough to keep you playing...BUT...I do find myself (often) wishing for better and more diverse levels. They're far too linear to call "Deadpool" a "great" game. Another aspect I find bothersome are the enemies. It feels like they go straight from being a normal, fair difficulty to being far too difficult fit where you are, and what you have to use in the game. All in all, of you're a Comic fan or a Deadpool fan specifically, you can find a decent amount of entertainment in the game, but don't expect anything epic. I would recommend either renting it first or waiting for a price drop.

Any fans of Deadpool would do themselves a great disservice by not purchasing and playing this game. I'm a Deadpool novice and still had a blast playing through the entire single player campaign. Previous history or familiarity with Deadpool is thankfully NOT required. The dialogue can get pretty blue and juvenile at times, but Nolan North's delivery had me laughing throughout the game. Controls are tight and responsive and the upgrade system based on DP (Deadpool Points) is rewarding and adds multiple layers of gameplay. My only complaints are in regards to the camera breaking when boxed into a corner. Lack of enemy variety and a severe difficulty spike on the last level where everything is thrown at you - including the kitchen sink. That being said, I still had loads of fun with Deapool.

This game has all things Deadpool. It was the funniest game experience I have ever had. It was an action game of epic proportions. If your looking for a thought provoking RPG look elsewhere. This is the return of truly entertaining hack and slash, run and gun, awesomeness. You can upgrade everything from stats to weapons and the challenge modes leave you something to do after the 6-7 hour campaign. If you beat it in 4 hours you played on easy and skipped all the Easter eggs. This game was made for true fans of The Merc With The Mouth!!!!

I love the game. It's funnier than all heck and Nolan North is a scream throughout the whole game. The developers really captured Deadpool's insanity and then some. The game has me howling with laughter and my favorite part ever in the game is the part after Deadpool flies the jet, crashes it, and tries to wake up Wolverine by slapping him across the face over and over and over and over again. What I don't like about the game, however, are the graphics and a lack of good battle dialogue. But I'll gladly see past that to play the game itself. I love the game and if I would rate the game a lot more than 5 stars if I could.

Deadpool, the game, is a humorous character action game starring the most wacky, lovable and only merc-with-a-mouth. Dead pool, the character, is the hilarious, butt kicking-ist assassin hero that has ever graced Marvel with his presence. The action, the humor and the overall gameplay is the flash point of what all the comics, TV appearances and video game cameos made you want. Anyone who is a fan of the gun-kata maestro, a lover of character action games or anyone who loves to wrack up big combos with a flurry of blood and bullets will want to pick this up whenever they can.
