Last year, I would not have known that Qualcomm Snapdragon X will perform this well on a PC. It has arrived and it is more than capable. Now Dell has been known to create great quality laptops. This one is no different. Starting with the design, the Titan color is very classy, clean and durable. I would bring this to a coffee shop and not just look professional, but it is an adult PC—I am proud to bring it to a client meeting. It does not fold back like a 2-in1, but for a “professional” computer, I will not need that functionality. HARDWARE QUALITY AND FUNCTIONALITY The bezels are not infinite but it adds to the durability of the PC because the feel of the hinges, the round corners, the texture—all feel so solid. And when I say solid, I know for sure that this is a durable laptop because I unfortunately dropped it 4 feet high down to a carpet floor and it did not have any folds or bends; everything remained fully intact even after it rolled on a cartwheel. And because it is solid, there is some heft to the machine—it is not light but it is not that heavy either. There is that solid weight and feel that makes me feel confident I have a quality device. The touch pad is decently sized and very responsive and—get this, the right click functionality is effective (this is one of my touchpad litmus tests)—because usually, pad controls get lost with a flimsy or an ineffective touch pad combination of hardware and software. The keyboard is a classic dell keyboard: very clicky with some noise but helps with the feedback and response on return. There is no backlight but the keys are standard so it is not confusing when my fingers are on them. The key sizes are perfect, the key texture is flat but grippy to the touch, and my hands have enough real estate space to rest on the sides of the touchpad while typing. One thing to note is, the keys, the touchpad and the rest have the right proportion to the overall layout of the lower half of the laptop. It is comfortable and I can type on it for days. The screen is bright, and though there is no need to touch it because it is not a touchscreen, it does not welcome fingerprints. So when I am out on the patio waiting for my next meeting, I can comfortably see the screen without having to squint or re-angle it because the brightness is good, and the screen does not have any marks because it seems smudge-free. This is with the screen brightness on max. The details are crisp and clear and surprisingly light on the eyes—I do not have to put on my 40 year old glasses to see on its 14 inch screen. It's camera is keen on finding my face easy and it is very clear, regardless of what I use, google meet or zoom. Studio effects are effective because the camera is sharp. This means, the blurs are well defined, the effects are usable, and the angle is wide. The speakers are so-so—sound is narrow and hardly has any depth. This is not a deal-breaker for me as I usually use speakers of a headset, all of which can be connected easily to this PC. Other connections such as Wifi and Bluetooth do not even need any attention as they work perfectly as they should. Connected to a dock, it can easily project to two more extended screens, at least with the limitation of my dock, it can do 2, 4K screens at 60hz. Even with added peripherals, such as a mouse, an external keyboard and speakers, no delays at all on peripheral inputs. Overall, hardware is pretty impressive as I would expect from a quality Dell PC. SOFTWARE PERFORMANCE AND COMPATIBILITY So this is where I focused on testing this PC, because this is a Qualcomm processor. My question was, will it do my everyday tasks? Let’s start with my google apps—everything browser related is good. GSuite works perfectly. Adobe Express, AI-based, works well too because it is operates through my browser. So even any internal CoPilot functions (Recall, internal process questions, etc.) without hiccups. GIMP is very snappy and works without errors, like how other processors used to be years ago when they were not fully compatible with other software. MS Apps are good too: word which is very basic, functions well, and excel where I put to this test with my massive spreadsheets, do not seem to have any issues. It is fast at 16gb of memory but does it have enough storage at 512gb? Most applications now are web-based. Even content creator files have to be saved externally. I do have creative materials that I use regularly, but my rotation does not take more than 100gb. Even the hardware / software capacity for functionality is just right for this PC. Now what actually impresses me with this machine is, usually when I am unplugged, with other regular non Qualcomm PCs, I need to make sure my power settings are correct because the unplugged performance and the plugged performance is noticeably different. In this PC, even when I unplug it, my apps operate like it is still plugged. Of course the brightness would dim a bit, but the snappiness is consistent. I cannot attest to its battery life unplugged—5 hours to go as notified on a full charge but the drain notification does not seem consistent with actual use on balanced profile. This means, after 40 minutes, it is telling me I have 4 hours to go. Does it bother me?—No. It is like any other PC but this still has the edge of no drop-off being unplugged which I think is the win. In summary, this PC gets it—maybe because it is a Dell. Maybe this was the difference of a Qualcomm processor for me—the performance consistency. Dell creates one of the most reliable computers in this planet and this is not any different from all those other PCs it has made through the years. But this is a step towards innovation versus what is comfortable, like only using the other more established processors. I like what is on this PC and what I use it for. For those who can be comfortable enough to grow with technology this is a good PC to experience. It is way more than just being capable and reliable. I definitely recommend this PC to those looking for a great business daily driver.

The Dell Inspiron line of laptops is not one that has ever stood out in my mind in terms of high quality or excellence. However, this laptop offers the right blend of price, features, and performance that I think many students and or businesses will appreciate for general productivity and web application use! The build quality of the laptop is reasonable but not incredible. The laptop lid is not one-finger open capable, with a poorly tuned and very tight hinge that does not go flat or flip entirely over. The keyboard has a standard layout with a surprisingly excellent, quiet, and gentle typing feel. People with achy fingers or arthritis will love typing on this keyboard. The keycaps are a soft touch and quite comfortable to type on for extended periods of time. I am currently typing the review on this keyboard, and I would have zero problems using this for a full day of work or college-level essay typing. The only major disappointment for me is that the keyboard is not backlit. This is a surprising and disappointing finding in the setting of laptops in this same price range that have backlit keyboards. I don’t know why Dell decided to cheap out on this, but I do not appreciate it. The touchpad on this laptop is a traditional springboard-style trackpad with easier mechanical clicks at the bottom and impossible to click at the top. It is pleasant to use but not as great as haptic trackpad offerings out there. The speakers on this laptop are slightly above average in the world of Windows laptops in terms of loudness and sound quality. The screen is a “good enough” 300 nits’ brightness 1920x1200p screen (basically full HD) that looks great and performs as expected at this price. It has a 60hz refresh and does not support a variable refresh rate that can drop lower or higher based on your needs, which is a bummer as this can contribute to improved battery life. This is not a touch screen, and the scaling of the desktop in the Windows settings was set at 150% out of the box, which looked terrible to my eyes. I set it to 125% and it looked much better scaled with more usable workspace for apps and web browser pages on the 14” screen. Regarding some of the key specs, here is what you have on this particular laptop. It is equipped with a new 2025 Snapdragon ARM chip which is one of QUALCOMM’s newer 8 core 8 thread models that is still equipped with a ‘neural processing unit’ or NPU that is capable of handling modern AI tasks. This is not the fastest Snapdragon chip currently available, but I think it is going to be perfectly serviceable for most users. It has 16 GB of blazing-fast RAM built into the laptop, no upgradable RAM here after it leaves the factory. However, 16 GB is precisely the minimum of RAM I would recommend to most users these days, so I am glad Dell didn’t cheap out here with 8 GB of RAM. The 512 GB SSD in this laptop is large enough to be serviceable for most and is quite fast with well over 6400MB/s read speeds! Benchmarks: The Geekbench 6 scores show an interesting comparison between the higher end Snapdragon Plus chip available in some of the other Dell Inspiron line up offerings. I got a single core score of 1707 and multicore score of 5869. This is quite a lot slower than the Snapdragon Plus processor with a single core score of 2285 and a multicore score of 12790. However, this chip is more than powerful enough for basic computing tasks, productivity, and web apps. I personally noticed no difference in the speed of my workflow compared to my other computers that I am used to using, like my desktop PC with an i7 13700F processor. I also got a Speedometer 3.1 score on balanced mode on battery of well into the high 20's, which is highly respectable given that the test is all about how rapidly a computer can cycle through a demanding web app task sequence. This test is very relevant in an era where more and more workflows are being done through web apps rather than programs downloaded onto the computer itself. Now, to clear up a few expectations on this laptop. This Inspiron model is NOT one of these proclaimed 20-hour battery-life laptops. Based on my real-world mixed power use and screen brightness on balanced battery life, this is shaping up to be a 10–12-hour battery to me, tops. This is still excellent and vastly better than what higher-end mobile Intel processors have managed to return in recent times, so I know Windows lovers are going to be stoked to have a powerful and efficient laptop. Another expectation to clear up is that this is not a silent machine. This has a fan built in, and I was surprised to find that it spun up a lot to cool the laptop, even when doing low-intensity tasks like web browsing and Word processing. I will say that according to HWmonitor, my temperatures stayed nice and cool even during intensive benchmarking. Regardless, hearing fans is never my favorite thing on a professional on-the-go laptop. Altogether, I give this specific Dell Inspiron five stars out of five. This is a high-performing laptop that can be had, particularly on sale, at an amazing price-to-value ratio. Thanks for reading my review. I hope it has been helpful!

I appreciate the sleek-professional look and size of this laptop. The aluminum chassis and deck, along with the smooth edges give it a premium feel, and the subtle logo seems to disappear at certain angles. The lid needs two hands to open but stays firmly without wobble. The construction is solid, and the laptop remains quite portable at 3.3 lbs. The typing experience is enjoyable. They keys have decent travel and spacing. However, it is inconvenient that there is no keyboard backlight. The trackpad is very accurate and responsive. While the color accuracy is subpar and the brightness is quite low (300 nits), I still found the thin bezel 1920x1200, 60Hz screen decent. The anti-glare coating and wide viewing angles help, especially in the daytime. This laptop is superfast online if you have Wi-Fi 7/6E, or at least it will be future proof. Online calls and video meetings are smooth. The 1080p 2MP camera is quite capable. There are many available options such as Windows Studio, backgrounds, eye-tracking, live captions, and AI-related features that are helpful (some gimmicky). The mics pick up voices very well and the AI knocks out a lot of ambient noise. The speakers are mediocre but serviceable as expected from almost any laptop. The camera also has robust privacy features such as a physical cover slider, as well as “away” and “onlooker” detection. I am very happy with the performance of this laptop so far. The Snapdragon X-126100 CPU is quite efficient and capable. I did some rendering tests, and I was fairly impressed. Combined with the Adreno GPU, I was able to play some games as well at decent graphics. I checked the AI features a bit to test the NPU, but I wasn’t able to fully utilize it. Hopefully this will get better usage in the future. Now, the laptop runs on Windows 11 ARM, and while there are plenty of apps and games that are compatible, there are quite a few of them that are not, so I highly recommend checking for compatibility, especially if you use a specific program or game. The efficiency of the Snapdragon ecosystem allows for exceptional battery life. I was able to use the laptop for two full workdays –that is about 18 hours of normal productivity work and some video streaming. The laptop charges via USB-C quickly. There are plenty of ports available, including two USB-C (Thunderbolt 4?), a legacy USB-A 3.2, a headphone/mic jack, and even a micro-SD card slot. Sadly, no HDMI so an adapter may be needed. I was able to connect two monitors at the same time with no issues. In the end, I think this laptop is great for those who need a cost-effective, professional, sleek, long-lasting, capable laptop for typical productivity and content consumption.
