Customers consistently note the excellent build quality, long battery life, and impressively fast boot speed of the Inspiron 14" laptop. Its portability and adequate port selection are also frequently praised. However, the lack of a keyboard backlight is a common point of criticism. The display brightness and color accuracy are also mentioned as areas needing improvement by some users.

The Dell Inspiron line of laptops is not one that has ever stood out in my mind in terms of high quality or excellence. However, this laptop offers the right blend of price, features, and performance that I think many students and or businesses will appreciate for general productivity and web application use!
The build quality of the laptop is reasonable but not incredible. The laptop lid is not one-finger open capable, with a poorly tuned and very tight hinge that does not go flat or flip entirely over. The keyboard has a standard layout with a surprisingly excellent, quiet, and gentle typing feel. People with achy fingers or arthritis will love typing on this keyboard. The keycaps are a soft touch and quite comfortable to type on for extended periods of time. I am currently typing the review on this keyboard, and I would have zero problems using this for a full day of work or college-level essay typing. The only major disappointment for me is that the keyboard is not backlit. This is a surprising and disappointing finding in the setting of laptops in this same price range that have backlit keyboards. I don’t know why Dell decided to cheap out on this, but I do not appreciate it. The touchpad on this laptop is a traditional springboard-style trackpad with easier mechanical clicks at the bottom and impossible to click at the top. It is pleasant to use but not as great as haptic trackpad offerings out there.
The speakers on this laptop are slightly above average in the world of Windows laptops in terms of loudness and sound quality. The screen is a “good enough” 300 nits’ brightness 1920x1200p screen (basically full HD) that looks great and performs as expected at this price. It has a 60hz refresh and does not support a variable refresh rate that can drop lower or higher based on your needs, which is a bummer as this can contribute to improved battery life. This is not a touch screen, and the scaling of the desktop in the Windows settings was set at 150% out of the box, which looked terrible to my eyes. I set it to 125% and it looked much better scaled with more usable workspace for apps and web browser pages on the 14” screen.
Regarding some of the key specs, here is what you have on this particular laptop. It is equipped with a new 2025 Snapdragon ARM chip which is one of QUALCOMM’s newer 8 core 8 thread models that is still equipped with a ‘neural processing unit’ or NPU that is capable of handling modern AI tasks. This is not the fastest Snapdragon chip currently available, but I think it is going to be perfectly serviceable for most users. It has 16 GB of blazing-fast RAM built into the laptop, no upgradable RAM here after it leaves the factory. However, 16 GB is precisely the minimum of RAM I would recommend to most users these days, so I am glad Dell didn’t cheap out here with 8 GB of RAM. The 512 GB SSD in this laptop is large enough to be serviceable for most and is quite fast with well over 6400MB/s read speeds!
Benchmarks: The Geekbench 6 scores show an interesting comparison between the higher end Snapdragon Plus chip available in some of the other Dell Inspiron line up offerings. I got a single core score of 1707 and multicore score of 5869. This is quite a lot slower than the Snapdragon Plus processor with a single core score of 2285 and a multicore score of 12790. However, this chip is more than powerful enough for basic computing tasks, productivity, and web apps. I personally noticed no difference in the speed of my workflow compared to my other computers that I am used to using, like my desktop PC with an i7 13700F processor. I also got a Speedometer 3.1 score on balanced mode on battery of well into the high 20's, which is highly respectable given that the test is all about how rapidly a computer can cycle through a demanding web app task sequence. This test is very relevant in an era where more and more workflows are being done through web apps rather than programs downloaded onto the computer itself.
Now, to clear up a few expectations on this laptop. This Inspiron model is NOT one of these proclaimed 20-hour battery-life laptops. Based on my real-world mixed power use and screen brightness on balanced battery life, this is shaping up to be a 10–12-hour battery to me, tops. This is still excellent and vastly better than what higher-end mobile Intel processors have managed to return in recent times, so I know Windows lovers are going to be stoked to have a powerful and efficient laptop. Another expectation to clear up is that this is not a silent machine. This has a fan built in, and I was surprised to find that it spun up a lot to cool the laptop, even when doing low-intensity tasks like web browsing and Word processing. I will say that according to HWmonitor, my temperatures stayed nice and cool even during intensive benchmarking. Regardless, hearing fans is never my favorite thing on a professional on-the-go laptop.
Altogether, I give this specific Dell Inspiron five stars out of five. This is a high-performing laptop that can be had, particularly on sale, at an amazing price-to-value ratio. Thanks for reading my review. I hope it has been helpful!

I appreciate the sleek-professional look and size of this laptop. The aluminum chassis and deck, along with the smooth edges give it a premium feel, and the subtle logo seems to disappear at certain angles. The lid needs two hands to open but stays firmly without wobble. The construction is solid, and the laptop remains quite portable at 3.3 lbs.
The typing experience is enjoyable. They keys have decent travel and spacing. However, it is inconvenient that there is no keyboard backlight. The trackpad is very accurate and responsive. While the color accuracy is subpar and the brightness is quite low (300 nits), I still found the thin bezel 1920x1200, 60Hz screen decent. The anti-glare coating and wide viewing angles help, especially in the daytime.
This laptop is superfast online if you have Wi-Fi 7/6E, or at least it will be future proof. Online calls and video meetings are smooth. The 1080p 2MP camera is quite capable. There are many available options such as Windows Studio, backgrounds, eye-tracking, live captions, and AI-related features that are helpful (some gimmicky). The mics pick up voices very well and the AI knocks out a lot of ambient noise. The speakers are mediocre but serviceable as expected from almost any laptop. The camera also has robust privacy features such as a physical cover slider, as well as “away” and “onlooker” detection.
I am very happy with the performance of this laptop so far. The Snapdragon X-126100 CPU is quite efficient and capable. I did some rendering tests, and I was fairly impressed. Combined with the Adreno GPU, I was able to play some games as well at decent graphics. I checked the AI features a bit to test the NPU, but I wasn’t able to fully utilize it. Hopefully this will get better usage in the future. Now, the laptop runs on Windows 11 ARM, and while there are plenty of apps and games that are compatible, there are quite a few of them that are not, so I highly recommend checking for compatibility, especially if you use a specific program or game.
The efficiency of the Snapdragon ecosystem allows for exceptional battery life. I was able to use the laptop for two full workdays –that is about 18 hours of normal productivity work and some video streaming. The laptop charges via USB-C quickly.
There are plenty of ports available, including two USB-C (Thunderbolt 4?), a legacy USB-A 3.2, a headphone/mic jack, and even a micro-SD card slot. Sadly, no HDMI so an adapter may be needed. I was able to connect two monitors at the same time with no issues.
In the end, I think this laptop is great for those who need a cost-effective, professional, sleek, long-lasting, capable laptop for typical productivity and content consumption.

The new Dell Inspiron 14-inch Copilot+ Laptop is an interesting device. It comes with the newest addition to Qualcomm’s latest budget friendly processor, the Snapdragon X. The Dell Inspiron is an ultra-portable laptop with all day battery life and a design and form factor built for portability. It was designed for light office work, AI related tasks, and media consumption.
Screen
The 14-inch screen has an anti-glare coating. Dell calls the screen type WVA. Not sure if the panel is IPS or VGA, but it looks more like a VGA panel. The screen does not get overly bright, and the colors are just adequate in my opinion. I didn't expect OLED quality from this tier laptop. The panel has a 60 hertz refresh rate at Full HD+ resolution. The panel is also a non-touch display as well.
Features
After installing all the necessary updates, the laptop worked without any hitches. The start-up was snappy and all the apps I normally use worked just fine. The Windows on Arm experience works much better than my initial experience a few years back. The Dell laptop comes with 16gb ram that is upgradeable. The storage available is a M.2 512gb NVMe SSD and comes equipped with a micro-SD card slot for added storage options. Headphone/microphone jack is included as well. McAfee trial comes pre-loaded as well.
Using Windows on Arm a few years back was a nightmare. Slow load times, app incompatibility, and lack of storage options. Gone are those days. The Dell Inspiron laptop has 2 full function USB-C ports with power delivery, data and video. It also has a full-sized USB-A port. The keys are spacious and do not make loud clacking sounds when typing. The track-pad is large and has good response times. There is no back-light on the keys, so late night working will require lighting from another source. The Copilot features also add value. Features like Recall, Co-creator, and having an all-day battery makes this laptop a serious contender for mid-tier power users.

Dude I got a Dell!!!

Having the right tools at your disposal to complete the task at hand is vital. I was in need of a device with good battery for school work and light browsing and the Dell Inspiron 14 checked off most of the boxes.
I have taken a liking to the idea of the copilot computers with the Snapdragon chipsets. It can be compared to the M series chips of Apple laptops these devices have a lot to offer and after having mine for two weeks there is a lot to like. While I would admit it isn’t a high-end device it does more than I expected.
:::General Thoughts:::
Upon receiving my Dell device, the experience was a simple one you get the laptop, charger and information pamphlets. A 65-watt charger is included and I added a magnetic USB type C adapter that disconnects easily if I happen to trip over the cable similar to the apple laptops.
If you have ever used a Windows device then you know more or less what to expect here it is not anything mind blowing. Although setting up Windows 11 has gotten easier and less time consuming.
I like to use Windows Hello (facial recognition) to sign in, it makes it fast and easy to unlock my device.
Now more about the Inspiron laptop itself. The ARM version of Windows is very much like the tradition X86 versions. I use my Dell primarily for the Office suite of Applications and the browser for other tasks and sometimes a quick game of Solitaire. Now I have read reviews from other users that there are issues installing X86 programs. I did run into this issue attempting to install the EPSON driver pack for my printer. I was able to figure it out by installing nothing more than the driver itself. More time is needed for ARM based versions of software needs to roll out for these devices.
:::Hardware:::
The keyboard has a somewhat stiff feel to it and you won’t worry about accidental key strokes, there is a good amount of travel between the keys and they feel good and clicky. There is a downside here and there is no backlit keyboard here and that can be an issue for some. The trackpad is nice as well and is large and responsive.
The screen is FHD and plenty bright and responsive. This is not a touchscreen device and that is okay as I do not use that much. The display is matte and not glossy.
Opening the device it automatically powers on and that is awesome no need to press a power button. I changed the power settings and have it set to sleep when closing the lid and to power down when pressing the power button.
The camera is good enough for what you will use it for and it has a built-in privacy slide (cover).
Battery life is great I use Spotify while working and I find that not having a backlit keyboard adds to the battery life. I find myself squeezing 12 hours easily and this can be comparable to Chromebook devices. I find myself not needing my Chromebook anymore due to having a device with good battery life. There are higher end models available but this is basic and does a lot for not too much of a hit to your pocket.
You get a headphone jack, two type C, and a full-sized USB and a Micro SD card slot.
The speakers are decent and are on the bottom of the device. It can sound good or muffled depending on how you use it.
:::Pros & Cons:::
Pros:
- Hefty feeling (not cheap plastic)
- Slim
- Good battery life
- Anti fingerprint coating
Cons:
- No backlit keyboard
- No touchscreen
:::Closing Thoughts:::
In general, this is not a budget device but more like mid-tier. It will do a lot but I find myself using for school and daily use nothing intense and I am mostly satisfied there are far more pros than there are cons.
:::TL;DR:::
Need a Dell to get school work, studying and decent battery life? Then have a look at this one. If you need more then look at the Dell 14 Plus.

A great companion at the office, home and road

We got this laptop because our older laptop could not update to Windows 11 because it is good but older and of course it is a Dell.
The new Inspiron right out of the box, it looks great, it is lightweight, clean and well built.
It comes with the power cable and a couple of documents with the laptop, and I do like that the packaging is recyclable.
The setup is easy just like any other windows computer, the screen is not a touch screen and that is ok because we have it connected to our workstation and it is using a monitor, a mouse and keyboard that are all connected to it.
The 16 Gigabytes of RAM makes it easy to handle all the applications we have in our small office, and spreadsheets is a walk in the park for it.
The 14 inches size is perfect because it can be unplugged from the workstation easily and we are able to take it anywhere. And the battery life is great, it does last a long time, I was working on it for a few hours, and it had more battery life left. Oh, and it is quiet even when it is cooling down.
it has 512 gigabytes and that is plenty for us since we also have a shared drive that we store everything in, and when we have to take our project on the go the memory on our Dell is enough.
The Copilot+ makes things easier, to find documents, editing, making video calls and more.
The connections are helpful; it has 2 USB C one USB A one, universal 3.5 jack, and one MicroSD card slot.
Overall, this laptop has been a great companion since it is very useful at the office, at home and on the road; it can multitask and do all of the things we need to get done and fast.

Basic Dependable Dell

I usually buy Dell laptops because they are reasonably priced and are usually loaded with some of the best tech available each year. I like them because they are always dependable and so far, I have not had to send one back for items covered under extended warranties because of the products holding up well with lots of use. This latest Inspiron 14 model i5441 is a nice change since it has Snapdragon X, X1-26-100, single core up to 2.97GHz, 8 cores up to 2.95 GHz, NPU up to 45 TOPS Processor instead of an Intel or AMD processor. I am used to the other chip makers but really like how Snapdragon X is able to give the laptop plenty of power when you need it most. I also like that it comes with 16GB, LPDDR5X random memory to use. The storage is 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive which is usually all I need for this type of laptop. It also comes with Qualcomm® Adreno™ GPU Graphics which work well with a screen this size and made me appreciate the graphics displayed in this configuration.
I was a little disappointed that it was not touch screen but the 14”, "non-touch, 16:10 FHD+ 1920x1200, 60Hz, WVA, IPS, with 300 nit Display makes me forget that it is not my preferred type of screen but makes up for the difference in the clarity of the screen even when using it in low lighting. My other issue was the lack of a backlit keyboard which threw me off in low light and was another personal preference I had to deal with and had minimal issues while typing on it.
In terms of communication via Webcam it has a FHD IR webcam that works seamlessly with Qualcomm's Always-On Sensing technology to provide presence detection. I enjoyed playing around with the various settings and options it provided to keep you looking at the center of the screen and would track your movements so I would not accidentally move outside of the normal video range. I also liked the sound that it produced, which also had extra options depending on if you had Microsoft add-ins for the latest in sound technology.
As far as the important connection options are concerned, this comes with one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one Universal audio jack, USB Type-C® Full Function Port (40Gbps, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort™) | and a second USB Type-C® Full Function Port (40Gbps, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort™) and lastly a Mirco SD port.
Windows 11 is the installed operating system on the laptop and has co-pilot as the main assistant to help you with all your tasks. I use co-pilot since I have a subscription to 365 so it is a nice addon to the programs I use in 365. They focus on the recall feature that the laptop offers which takes snapshots of everything you are doing so you can go back and find something you were working on much quicker. They claim to have extra upgraded security to protect your personal data. I chose not to use the function but might be convinced to try it out in the future if I am convinced that my personal data is safe.
Overall, I really like the powerful new Dell i5441 Inspiron 14 because of the great features and programs it includes even for gamers.

Pros
- Amazing battery life for the size/power
- Wide sound stage with some built in tricks
- Keyboard feels reliable, not loud but satisfying
- Light (reported 3.3lb)
- Has USB C but appreciate the older USB 3.2 port was here
- x86 emulation has come along ways, ARM native software is amazing
- Wifi 7 is here, but has some interference on my testing
- Nice AI feature for those dabbling in it
- Built in card reader
Cons
- Display washed contrast / reflective (see uploaded image)
- ARM will depend on x86 emulation for some software, so double check your needs
- Wide sound stage but slightly tinny and dulled in mids for audiophiles
- Refresh rate may bother some people
Overall this is more of a light weight , mostly business, some entertainment, laptop. Won't go through the specs, it's listed on the product page. The experience and feel of this is I need something light and quick while I'm on vacation / going between offices / commuting etc. I can get alot of my work done, if I'm done early, I can turn on a few games or Netflix. I've included some benchmark, as you can see Timespy was not built in native ARMS so it was painfully slow, but in the same breath Borderlands 2 that was native ARMS gave me an amazing 120fps at it's 1900x1200 resolution, although it's 60hz. I'm more impressed with the battery, I was able to get all my work done in the entire day, 8 hours, then had enough battery left to play 2 hours of borderlands (1 hour at lunch, 1 hour on my way home), and still had 15% battery left while I plugged it in at night. The only downside is some of the software I use for work is not compatible (I work in security), and some games worked but was unplayable, and I attribute this due to the fact that this is a Snapdragon chip.
Overall, most people would be very happy with this laptop. The battery life, the sound, the AI chip built in, the versatility of the ports/memory card reader, etc, is a very solid package. Highly recommend it

Dell Still Knows How to Make a Solid Laptop

I’ve been using this Dell Inspiron 14 with the Snapdragon chip for work tasks the past week—emails, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, video calls, that kinda thing—and I gotta say, it’s been great. I can’t say enough about these Snapdragon ARM PC chips for pretty much anything except the 1% of serious gamers out there.
First off, it looks sharper than your typical work-issued PC. It’s not goin to turn any heads working in your local Starbucks, but it’s got a clean look that at least won’t love you any street cred. Pretty lightweight too, which I appreciate since I do travel quite a bit with my laptop.
Performance-wise, it’s been snappy. This isn’t my first Snapdragon based PC, and it certainly won’t be my last. Everything opens fast, runs smooth, and I’ve had no slowdowns bouncing between apps or sitting through hours of video calls. It just works, and it stays cool and quiet the whole time.
The battery life? Unreal. I left it unplugged all day on purpose, just to see how it’d do, and it still had plenty of juice left. That’s probably my favorite thing about it—no stress about finding an outlet halfway through the day.
Now, if you’re thinking about gaming—don’t. It’s got an integrated GPU, so it’ll handle basic stuff, but this isn’t a gaming machine. And yeah, the screen and speakers are fine. Nothing fancy, but they get the job done.
All in all, if you need a solid laptop for work and everyday stuff, this one’s easy to recommend. Not a ton of bells and whistles, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to—and does it well.

Great Business Daily Driver

Last year, I would not have known that Qualcomm Snapdragon X will perform this well on a PC. It has arrived and it is more than capable.
Now Dell has been known to create great quality laptops. This one is no different. Starting with the design, the Titan color is very classy, clean and durable. I would bring this to a coffee shop and not just look professional, but it is an adult PC—I am proud to bring it to a client meeting. It does not fold back like a 2-in1, but for a “professional” computer, I will not need that functionality.
HARDWARE QUALITY AND FUNCTIONALITY
The bezels are not infinite but it adds to the durability of the PC because the feel of the hinges, the round corners, the texture—all feel so solid. And when I say solid, I know for sure that this is a durable laptop because I unfortunately dropped it 4 feet high down to a carpet floor and it did not have any folds or bends; everything remained fully intact even after it rolled on a cartwheel. And because it is solid, there is some heft to the machine—it is not light but it is not that heavy either. There is that solid weight and feel that makes me feel confident I have a quality device.
The touch pad is decently sized and very responsive and—get this, the right click functionality is effective (this is one of my touchpad litmus tests)—because usually, pad controls get lost with a flimsy or an ineffective touch pad combination of hardware and software.
The keyboard is a classic dell keyboard: very clicky with some noise but helps with the feedback and response on return. There is no backlight but the keys are standard so it is not confusing when my fingers are on them. The key sizes are perfect, the key texture is flat but grippy to the touch, and my hands have enough real estate space to rest on the sides of the touchpad while typing. One thing to note is, the keys, the touchpad and the rest have the right proportion to the overall layout of the lower half of the laptop. It is comfortable and I can type on it for days.
The screen is bright, and though there is no need to touch it because it is not a touchscreen, it does not welcome fingerprints. So when I am out on the patio waiting for my next meeting, I can comfortably see the screen without having to squint or re-angle it because the brightness is good, and the screen does not have any marks because it seems smudge-free. This is with the screen brightness on max. The details are crisp and clear and surprisingly light on the eyes—I do not have to put on my 40 year old glasses to see on its 14 inch screen.
It's camera is keen on finding my face easy and it is very clear, regardless of what I use, google meet or zoom. Studio effects are effective because the camera is sharp. This means, the blurs are well defined, the effects are usable, and the angle is wide. The speakers are so-so—sound is narrow and hardly has any depth. This is not a deal-breaker for me as I usually use speakers of a headset, all of which can be connected easily to this PC. Other connections such as Wifi and Bluetooth do not even need any attention as they work perfectly as they should.
Connected to a dock, it can easily project to two more extended screens, at least with the limitation of my dock, it can do 2, 4K screens at 60hz. Even with added peripherals, such as a mouse, an external keyboard and speakers, no delays at all on peripheral inputs.
Overall, hardware is pretty impressive as I would expect from a quality Dell PC.
SOFTWARE PERFORMANCE AND COMPATIBILITY
So this is where I focused on testing this PC, because this is a Qualcomm processor. My question was, will it do my everyday tasks? Let’s start with my google apps—everything browser related is good. GSuite works perfectly. Adobe Express, AI-based, works well too because it is operates through my browser. So even any internal CoPilot functions (Recall, internal process questions, etc.) without hiccups. GIMP is very snappy and works without errors, like how other processors used to be years ago when they were not fully compatible with other software. MS Apps are good too: word which is very basic, functions well, and excel where I put to this test with my massive spreadsheets, do not seem to have any issues.
It is fast at 16gb of memory but does it have enough storage at 512gb? Most applications now are web-based. Even content creator files have to be saved externally. I do have creative materials that I use regularly, but my rotation does not take more than 100gb. Even the hardware / software capacity for functionality is just right for this PC.
Now what actually impresses me with this machine is, usually when I am unplugged, with other regular non Qualcomm PCs, I need to make sure my power settings are correct because the unplugged performance and the plugged performance is noticeably different. In this PC, even when I unplug it, my apps operate like it is still plugged. Of course the brightness would dim a bit, but the snappiness is consistent. I cannot attest to its battery life unplugged—5 hours to go as notified on a full charge but the drain notification does not seem consistent with actual use on balanced profile. This means, after 40 minutes, it is telling me I have 4 hours to go. Does it bother me?—No. It is like any other PC but this still has the edge of no drop-off being unplugged which I think is the win.
In summary, this PC gets it—maybe because it is a Dell. Maybe this was the difference of a Qualcomm processor for me—the performance consistency. Dell creates one of the most reliable computers in this planet and this is not any different from all those other PCs it has made through the years. But this is a step towards innovation versus what is comfortable, like only using the other more established processors. I like what is on this PC and what I use it for. For those who can be comfortable enough to grow with technology this is a good PC to experience. It is way more than just being capable and reliable. I definitely recommend this PC to those looking for a great business daily driver.

I bought this laptop on sale for $499, and for that price it's about worth it. The CPU is sufficient for most tasks, but I do notice slight slowdown from CPU strain when I'm working on multiple intense tasks. I was concerned about compatibility with the SnapDragon ARM processor, but really have had no problems with that at all. Sound is pretty good and screen resolution and brightness is fine. The most impressive thing about this laptop is the battery life. Literally 14 to 18 hours on a full charge. This is due to the power savings functions when the battery gets low, which extends the battery life significantly. There is no fingerprint reader but windows uses the built in webcam for facial recognition. I love the USB-C charging and I added a 1 TB microSD for additional storage space, instead of upgrading the NVMe storage capacity.
Overall, I would buy this laptop again, but only on the sale price of $499 or less. Personally, I don't feel it's worth much more than that. It's a good "entry" level laptop and does almost everything I need. I bought this laptop for a personal travel laptop, so if it gets stolen or damaged, I won't cry too hard due to the lower cost. I keep my nicer laptop at home for normal, everyday use and for heavy tasks and other more powerful CPU requirement tasks.

Bought this laptop for our son in college and it meets his needs perfectly. The battery life lasts long enough for him to get through class, finish his assignments, and have a little extra time. It's not too bulky or heavy for him to carry around campus in his backpack.

I love my new computer. The laptop was easy to set up. It's so much faster than I anticipated. The screen colors are vibrant. I have mine set up with 2 monitors and that set was effortless. I can't express how happy I am with this laptop. Lastly, my previous laptops were all Dell. I know the brand is dependable which was the determining factor in my purchase.

It powers up quick, battery life is fine, and I was worried about the snapdragon compatibly with legacy windows program. No problem so far, not with Startcraft II, my accounting software.I like it.
