A: Nice of BestBuy to actually mention that it's not BPA free. Even Delonghi website doesn't list it in their specs. After seeing your question I became concerned so I contacted Delonghi. Only the plastic parts that are not in contact with water or coffee are not BPA free. De’Longhi is an international brand, and the health and safety of our customers is paramount concern. All materials within De’Longhi brand products have been carefully designed and evaluated in order to guarantee high performance, reliability, and safety. We want to reassure you that all parts intended to be in contact with food of the De’Longhi Coffee Machines EC680 Dedica you are asking for are food grade and tested for applicable requirements. The parts in contact with food of De’Longhi Coffee Machines EC680 have been selected, starting from raw material that do not intentionally contain BPA. There are different kind of plastic resins in contact with water and coffee in models e.g.: - Water Tank is made in Styrene-acrylonitrile resin (SAN) - Steam Milk Frother is made in Polyacetal resin (POM) - Filter Holder Base is made in Polyamide resin (PA66) all these have been tested for BPA content and, based on the outcomes of that, we can reassure you that they do not contain BPA.
A: Espresso pods (E.S.E. Pods) are not usually found in US retail stores, but can be found online. My eperience with these pods is poor. Buy as good a burr grinder as you can and experiment with the grind to find the best for the coffee you are using for espresso. A plastic tamper is included with the machine, but I found that a 51mm stainless steel tamper made a real difference in flavor and cleaning out the pucks of coffee from the filter. There are numerous tutorials and reviews online that will explain how to use the machine and variables in making good espresso. I hope this helps.
Q: What accessories go with this?
A: While I love this machine, I found the plastic tamper to flimsy. I purchased a heavy, steel, calibrated tamper. Because I hold the filter holder under my grinder, I've never used the scoop. Caveat: I did not purchase my machine at Best Buy.
Q: I would like to upgrade the tamper. Can you tell me the mm size?
A: I use the BlueSnail Stainless Steel Coffee Tamper Barista Espresso Tamper 51mm Base Coffee Bean Press, it works perfectly.
Q: How many cups of espresso coffe can you make on this machine? For how many people?
A: You can only make one double shot at a time, so technically two singles will pour out at once. The time it takes to make two complete lattes is about 8 minutes, you have to make the foam, cool off the machine, make the espresso, then repeat, unless you make enough foam for both drinks.
A: Hi, there is no difference in function, only design. EC680 comes in black and red, and the EC680M, is metallic. The Dedica does have a stop feature, however our ECP3420 model does not. Thank you.
A: 2 Differences: The Cup Holder for 685 have a metal holder/ tray.... .and the steam wand also have 2 positions forfrothing and heating...Everything else is the same
