Great Christmas movie!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this around the holidays to get the festive vibes going, and this movie never disappoints! Jim Carrey's Scrooge is awesome! The way this movie brings the Dicken's story to life is solid. There is a dark tone to some of the parts, which fits the mood of the story that some other renditions just don't get right. Solid quality on BluRay as well. I have a Panasonic UB820 player with my LG OLED display, and the upscaling makes this movie pop.

Amazing Dickens Adaptation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, so I avoided yet another Disney "A Christmas Carol" with comedian Jim Carrey as the role of Scrooge when it came out. I am not a giant fan of this style of animation either. However, I purchased the movie on the recommendation of a friend and was blown away! Aside from the animation, this version is the closest to the actual novel that I have seen. I actually opened up a copy of the book and found that the dialog was 80% accurate or better. The animation is really good and you can easily see the actor's personality through the animation. The effects were marvelous and seemed to capture the intent of Dickens' descriptions. Wow! A new favorite.

A great modern retelling of the Dickens classic!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I probably have just about every video incarnation of this story. Until this movie, my favorites were the 1951 B&W version starring Alistair Sim, and the Lifetime channel version "Ebby", which had Susan Lucci in the role of Scrooge. As usual, Disney works it's 'magic' to make a movie that has mass-audience appeal, while still striving to stay true to Dickens' original story. And I have to say that Disney Animation Studios can definitely give Pixar a run for its money. There was a 3-disc set available, with the third disk being the 3D version of the movie, but I really didn't need it.

A great adaptation but not for small children
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this version of A Christmas Carol to be very entertaining with a different slant on the story. While it does follow the basic story it is a rather dark version of that story. I would not allow small children to watch this movie because it may frighten them with the gruesome death of the ghost of Christmas present. There are a few spots that may be too dark for small children but it is a good story for everyone else. I have to say that I was surprised by how good Jim Carey's version of Scrooge was. I thought he would be clowning his way through the movie but he played it straight with just some humor along the way. All in all a very good performance.

An absolute must for family members over 10
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! What an amazing job done on the CG, the dialog, the very creative camera angles, meticulous attention to detail, and bravo to Jim Carey, who took on multiple character voices in this film! While a few parts are silly and a bit irritating, it is overall a masterpiece of genius artwork, emotion, and technical workmanship! Love it!
