    Synopsis

    Disturbia
Salton Sea director D.J. Caruso travels from the shore to the suburbs for this suspenseful tale of a high-school senior who suspects that his neighbor is a notorious serial killer. Kale (Shia LaBeouf) is a high-school senior who has yet to come to terms with the fact that his father is gone, the tragic victim of a fatal accident. As Kale's mother (Carrie-Anne Moss) struggles to pay the bills by picking up extra shifts at work, her son's behavior grows increasingly erratic. When an altercation at school finds Kale placed under court-ordered house arrest, the homebound student teams with newly arrived girl-next-door Ashley (Sarah Roemer) to investigate the suspicious neighbor (David Morse) whom Kale believes to be an elusive and wanted serial killer. Their attentions focused intensely on the man they believe to be a murderous maniac hiding in broad daylight, Kale and Ashley trespass down a dangerous path while attempting to discern whether his suspicions are grounded in fact or just a combination of deep depression and suffocating cabin fever. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

      Great Movie!

I am a huge fan of Horror and Thrillers and all of the in-betweens. I hate to read this sort of stuff myself, but I have to say that it's sort of like a "modern day version of Rear Window" Except instead of a wheelchair bound man, it's a teenager on house arrest who has nothing better to do than look outside at what his neighbors are doing. I wouldn't say it's a "Sit on the edge of your seat thriller!" but I was very into the movie from beginning to end. Not to mention that I'm, personally, a huge fan of Shia LaBeouf. I think he's a great actor and is a really stand-up kind of person who still, with two lead roles on the big screen this summer, doesn't believe that he's as big as he is. He's a very humble young actor and does a great job at it. I would totally see this movie and NOT compare it at all to the Hitchcock classic as it very well stands alone.

After all of the great word-of-mouth on the thriller Disturbia, that made me want to check it out even more. Going into it, I really didn't know what to expect & was very pleased by the time the credits started rolling. Disturbia stars up-and-comer Shia LaBeouf (TV's Even Stevens & the upcoming Transformers movie), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix trilogy & Memento), David Morse (The Green Mile & TV's Hack), and newcomers Sarah Roemer (The Grudge 2) & Aaron Yoo (TV's The Bedford Diaries). The whole cast here is excellent, but it is LaBeouf & Roemer who obviously steal the spotlight from everyone else. The chemistry that builds up between those two is great. You really get attached to these characters & really want to see them take down the killer. All in all, Disturbia is very well written & the surprise hit that many should check out.

      I'm Shocked

So many users give this a 5 star rating and I don't understand why. This film is a worthy effort and the plot is intriguing, but of course it's a "re invention" of Hitchcock's classic-Rear Window. Rear Window of course is the film which truly deserves all these 5 star ratings. This film falls short. If you can get past the first 30 mins of this film then you've made it past LaBeouf's obnoxious character. Sure, this film gets the teenage element right and hooks the viewer, but it fails 3/4 in when it becomes completely ridiculous. I'll let the viewer see that for themselves, but overall I would recommend this film, but I would NOT call it outstanding. Voters should leave the 5 stars for the true masterpiece's not just for any new film that is released. If you want to see a truly "outstanding" film I would choose something else.

This definitely surprised me, because after reading reviews, and watching trailers, I was convinced I would hate it, just for the reason that I love Rear Window. Let's face it, there is not an on-screen duo that can out perform Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly, that just will never happen. That is another reason why I had my reservations because after watching Bay's Transformers with Shia in it, I had no hopes that his performance would be any better, but I was mistaken. This movie is a reinvention of Rear Window (not totally, nor is it anywhere near the greatness but...) and is easily enjoyable for most, especially those who have not yet experienced Rear Window. I would recommend it to most people as a nice Saturday afternoon flick, something enjoyable but unfortunately forgettable.

THIS HAS TO BE NAMED THE BEST THRILLER MOVIE OF ALL TIMES. IT HAS EVERYTHING THAT YOU WOULD WANT IN THESE KINDS OF MOVIES, WHETHER ITS ROMANCE OR GORE, THIS MOVIE SURE HAS IT. WHEN kALE(SHIA LEBEOUF) IS ORDERED UNDER HOUSE ARREST AFTER A TEACHER MAKES A REMARK ABOUT THE DEATH OF HIS FATHER, KALE FINDS OUT THE HABITS OF HIS NEIGHBORS. NOT ALWAYS KNOWING EVERYTHING IS THE BEST. AFTER WATCHING THE NEWS HE HEARD ABOUT A GIRL THAT WAS MISSING AND THE CAR THAT SHE WAS DRIVING. THAT NIGHT HE SAW HIS NEIGHBOR WITH THE SAME EXACT CAR EVEN WITH THE DENT ON IT. WILL HE BE HIS OWN TRAP OR WILL KALE GET HIS NEIGHBOR?! HE HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE

"Disturbia" is a great thriller movie. It's a film that keeps you on the edge wanting to know what will happen next. Shia LaBeouf does a great job in "Disturbia" and is well supported by his fellow cast. I find this movie relatable on all levels because I'm sure everyone at one point has spied on their neighbors when they were bored. And that's exactly what the character Kale (Shia LaBeouf) in the film does when he ends up stuck in his house. Overall, this is a great and well executed film and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

I had high expectations for this movie. With all the analogies between Disturbia and Rear Window (1954, Alfred Hitchcock), I just had to see it. My high expectations were met, as Shia's performance shows maturity in comparison to his past work. If I could sum this movie up into one word it would be: Promise. Promise that Shia has the ability to crank out more thrilling and believable performances. This movie definitely goes on the shelf... after one more viewing!
