I purchase this film at Best Buy on purpose - I simply want my collection to cohesively match, and I already had the prior two titles in the Divergent series in steelbook blu-ray release. Regarding this title, the packaging is excellent. It meets the same level of quality as the previous steelbooks (similar to the Disney/Marvel releases), which is to say that they are some of the better steelbooks out there. The case finish is a pleasant texture and isn't too reflective, so it just looks nice. The film has a bad rap, being the third in line, which is hardly a great place for most film series. I believe that it was a better entry than critics would lead you to believe. However, the tired dsytopian theme of not knowing which evil to pick is very prevalent, so if you have an aversion to that, you have been warned. Otherwise, it has no more significant plot holes than any other teen-becoming-adult-oriented action film, and does a fairly good job at creating an immersive, entertaining world in which to reside for roughly two hours. It won't likely capture you for much longer after that. NOTE: My biggest complaint about this release, and the primary reason why the rating isn't at least four stars (targeted at the studios and production, rather than this product itself) is that it doesn't have a 3D option at all. Divergent didn't because it almost didn't release in theatres in 3D, so they had nothing to give us without costly conversions. Insurgent got the full treatment, and is actually a good example of some very good (not excellent) 3D material. I love that the steelbook for that one included the extra disc. Allegiant, being the latest entry, had a 3D presence in the box office that surpassed the prior film, yet it has no 3D upon home release! Reasoning? Probably just that they're too cheap to port an existing 3D video source (essentially the same as what was shown in theatres, but with very minor differences in codec handling) to one additional disc for those of us who still care about the admittedly niche market of 3D in home threatre. But the cost savings of a dollar or two for a 3D disc in a premium steelbook package is really a shame, considering that almost everything else here would have merited a higher rating. But given the cost, this is a bit of a letdown.

They almost nailed it with this one, it has a blu ray disk for your home theater, a dvd for your laptop when your on the go and a HD copy if you have a fast internet connection. Additionally it comes in a nice steelcase which is always better and has a nice texture to the paint on the cover. The one thing keeping it from 5 stars is that there was no 3D version available, and i saw it in the theater in 3D so i know it exists. This is another flaw in the movie trends, you typically have the forced option to get the nice steelcase but no 3D disk or you can get the 3D disk but in a regular case and most likely it will not have a DVD and once again, Made in Mexico, there is no reason for why these cannot be manufactured here in the USA. The storyline is fair even better if you have watched the previous two films, this is one that is a good buy at a good price to add to your collection.

The movie (spoiler free): This is the third installment of the Divergent movie series based on the book trilogy of the same name. The books had a definitive ending that was highly divisive among readers. As a fan of the books, I was hoping for the same ending or at least one that was faithful to the source material. Unfortunately, the studio got greedy and decided to change the story with an open ending for a fourth film. The final fate of the characters and the franchise are still unknown at the time of this review. The sequel Ascendant has been cancelled and may eventually be made into a TV movie. Some of the original cast are not expected to return. I am rating the item only 2 stars because of this problem. The blu ray edition: This edition of the blu ray was released in steel case packaging exclusively by Best Buy. The included digital copy is subject to expiration so be sure to research this date prior to purchase if you expect to use the digital copy.

I bought this as a Blue-Ray pre-order; Best Buy came through exactly as promised, they notified me when it was ready for pickup, on the day specified. The pre-release sale price was very favorable. For Divergent fans, this third installment of the franchise is every bit as good as the trailers indicated, lots of drama and action. It continues the story from "Insurgent" with the post-faction struggle of the city in finding an identity and filling the leadership void, while answering what is beyond the wall, and adding a new set of characters to the mix. The special effects depicting technologies of the future leave you amazed, and wishing they were here now. The end is a cliff-hanger, leaving one eager to watch the final movie in the series, due out next year.

When will it ever end? Just another chapter of Divergent Series. After watching it I felt like I was watching a Saturday morning serial movie. For those that are too young to know of this, this was a way movie houses got you coming back every Saturday afternoon by playing a chapter of some serial movie. You do not come back next Saturday and pay for a movie you miss out on Whether Capt. Bob survives from his plunge into the Pit of Doom. How many more of these cheesy movies are we to suffer through until it is over. Probably will not buy the next installment DVD and certainly will not go see it at a movie theater,( yes even at a matinee and Capt Bob did survive) and just wait until next movie in the Divergent series comes out on HBO.

I loved Divergent. Thought Insurgent was a serviceable sequel. And then Allegiant came along. Not a bad movie, but definitely not on par with previous efforts. However, this should not come as much as a surprise due to the fact I read all the books before seeing the films and found Allegiant to be a poor conclusion to the series. I remember reading the book thinking is this the same author that wrote the first two?? Due to my dislike for the book I actually had the most hope for this film to see if it would correct the structural mishaps with the book. Sad to say this was not achieved. I will still tune in for the conclusion (if it happens), but I can safely say my hopes are low for the final chapter.

I was very excited for this movie to be released. However, I didn't read that the movie folks broke this story into two movies! What a complete let down. For a LOT of people as well since the movie bombed at the box office creating a scenario that left the producers with a NO FOURTH movie option but likely a TV movie and then series. Unfortunately, the greed of money ruined this great franchise! If they would have only FINISHED the movie series with this movie. So, whenever they get around to it the cliff hanger of this movie will wait for the TV movie now. I lost all interest in the movies now. So, off to the books which are usually better anyway.

This movie finally opens up the story and we find out what the deuce is going on, which is interesting considering the past two films focused on character development when actually the only true character in the films is fate, or the fate of two peoples; those in the experiment and those not. That's what's truly interesting, yet is barely touched upon. Yet another YA series wasted on YAs because the author was too immature to capitalize on the social aspects of the society created to make a true societal statement that could make a difference in future generations.
