As a motorcycle enthusiast myself, among many others who will/have purchased this dvd, I was glad that this came out on dvd. As the movie was filmed over 35 years ago, the technology and picture quality was not exactly as it is today. However, although the picture quality has never played a role to the enjoyment of watching this timeless cult-classic, it is definitely alot more life like as you are "riding along" with the characters so to speak. For those of us who have seen it before, One of the first things you will notice is how much crisper the scenes in which "Billy" and "Captain America" are riding through the desserts of the southwest region. Which I thought was truly stunning. Yes, it still has that late 60's early 70's picture "warmth" to it. Which is fine, and it retains it's ultimate feeling of the late 60's. Kind of like playing a vinyl record on the turntable you had when you grew up with on a saturday or sunday morning. One of the main features on the dvd is the Director's/Cast commentary. Although many of you who watch this probably won't spark too much of an interest to watch any of the extra features (including myself). It was still interesting to listen to Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda reflect on the movie they starred in, wrote, and directed. Through problems of making ends meet with the low budget for this film, and their ingenius idea to film during mardi-gras. I highly recommend this dvd "Easy Rider" to not just motorcyclists, or the rebelious teen-ager, but to any one who is interested in watching timeless works of art.
