Wave:3 is a premium microphone and digital mixing solution that fuses plug and play convenience with broadcast-grade circuitry. Never clip again thanks to proprietary anti-distortion technology. Tap the capacitive sensor to silently mute your mic feed. Connect headphones for zero-latency monitoring. Twist the dial to tweak input gain, adjust monitor volume, or crossfade between your mic and PC. Plus combine all your audio sources and create two independent mixes — one for you, one for your audience — with the Wave Link app. Wave:3 doesn’t just give your stream or podcast a professional sonic signature. It gives you control of your entire audio workflow.
Q: What is the purpose of the capacitive sensor?
A: The capacitive sensor allows you to mute the microphone silently.
Q: How does the microphone prevent distortion?
A: Wave:3 has proprietary anti-distortion technology so you will never experience clipping again.
Q: Can the microphone be used with multiple audio sources?
A: The Elgato Wave:3 microphone lets you combine all your audio sources with the Wave Link app.
Q: Why is zero-latency monitoring important for headphones?
A: Zero-latency monitoring is important for headphones because it allows you to hear your audio input in real-time without any delay.
Q: How long is the warranty on the microphone?
A: The manufacturer's warranty for both parts and labor on the microphone is 2 years.
Q: What is the maximum frequency response of the microphone?
A: The maximum frequency response of the microphone is 20 kilohertz.
Q: Can this mic work with an iPad Pro (2020)?
A: It will work if you have a USB-C to Digital AV Adapter. I have added link to this adapter as recommended product with the answer. Reason why direct USB C to C or other adapters wont work is because they wont be able to provide enough current for Mic to function. However that adapter allows you to draw power from iPad to charge other devices as well, so when you connect this mic with the mentioned adapter iPad will be able to power the mic and use it. There is no wave link software for iPad to do any software side changes though. However, Wave:3 has a knob to change gain and control other stuffs etc unlike Wave:1 so you should be fine without any software feature.
A: This USB mic was designed to compete with microphones like the Shure sm7b, AT2020, etc. It's a USB mic that comes with a powerful, versatile software, and ultimately cuts out the need of any additional audio mixing hardware/software. So the Behringer and the GoXLR boards are no long necessary with the Elgato 1 & 3 microphones.
