Very nice addition to an Escort Radar Detector
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Picked up a new 360c and even though I already had a hardwired cable for it, I definitely wanted to upgrade and run this smart cord with it. This gives you a nice low alert location as well as a very accessible mute button. This gives you the ability to mute and lockout signals in the newer detectors. No fiddling around with the buttons on top of the detector, just reach a few inches from where my hand is already resting and press mute. The alerts also are active when the screen of the detector is off, this allows you to run the screen blacked out so its not distracting on late night drives but still receive a visual alert from down by your hand.

Great smart cord
Posted .The direct wire SmartCord accessory is a unique power cord with a power-on indicator, an alert LED lamp that warns you of radar and laser, and a convenient mute button. Users wire the cord directly into the vehicle fuse panel, and then mount the display module within arm's reach. It's the perfect addition for any driver who might have trouble reaching the detector's mute button on the windshield.

Perfect if you want to hard mount your radar.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Works like a charm and I didn't have to take apart anything other than the fuse cover on my Audi A7. This wedges very easily and cleanly into the A pillar covers as well as the dash trim. I have an older Passport 7500 that has been with me for over a decade and wanted to hard wire this on the rear view mirror. The only difficult part was finding where to ground the wiring. If you don't find the right ground, it won't turn on (which is a good safety feature), but I thought the first unit I bought was broken and returned/replaced it with another only to find out the bolt I thought was a ground was not.

The Perfect Cable Management Solution
|Posted .Owned for 5 months when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5As someone with OCD, I was always driven insane by the stock cable for my 9500ix hanging down in the middle of my windshield, dashboard and center control panel. When I came across this little beauty, I decided to give it a try. I chose to install this using a Fuse Tap, which allows you to run two fuses off of a single fuse port, and used the port for the car's radio as the source. This means that the radio still has power from one fuse, and the radar has power from the other fuse, but it only takes up one fuse port instead of two. The next step was to route the wires where they couldn't be seen. For that, I got behind some of the molding along the inside of the door, along the side of the dashboard, and then under the roof liner and tucked away all of the cable. My radar is hooked to my mirror using a mirror mount that I bought elsewhere, and now the entire setup looks phenomenal. My only gripe that I can think of here is that the cable that leads to the power source, and also leads to the Smart Switch, could be a bit longer. Where I ended up having to mount the Smart Switch as a result, is not exactly where I'd like it to be, and causes me to have to reach for it a bit more than I'd hoped. That said, it's still an excellent product, and I definitely prefer the way my radar setup looks now, in comparison to how it looked before I installed this product.

Q: QuestionHow does this product really works?

- A:Answer The direct wire SmartCord accessory is a unique power cord with a power-on indicator, an alert LED lamp that warns you of radar and laser, and a convenient mute button. Users wire the cord directly into the vehicle fuse panel, and then mount the display module within arm's reach. It's the perfect addition for any driver who might have trouble reaching the detector's mute button on the windshield. The SmartCord also features a dark mode for discreet night driving, so other drivers won't know you have a detector.
