In 1872 Wyoming, a Civil War veteran-turned-gunslinger (Kiefer Sutherland) must make amends with his estranged father (Donald Sutherland), a reverend who deplores his son's embrace of violence, as he tries to protect his hometown from ruthless land-grabbers. Jon Cassar directed this menacing Western, which also stars Demi Moore and Brian Cox. Forsaken received its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.~Daniel Gelb
this is your typical movie where once sort of a bad guy (in a good way) turned good and back to bad (in a good way) to save the day by rescuing an entire town from crooks who wanted to buy everyone's land . if they refused they would be forced to sell. main characters was a father and son relationship that turned sour. then, well, back to good- once everything went well with the entire town who were scared of the bad guys. happy ending.
Kiefer and Donald are absolutely fabulous in this western movie. I am used to seeing both actors playing different type characters. However, the plot was somewhat predictable. On the other hand, there was not much more you could do with the plot. I wish there would have been some way Kiefer could have wound up with his childhood love.
I was excited to see some of my favorite actors in this movie. I loved watching westerns when I was growing up. This movie has a great story to be told, the actors preformed well, but, the only thing I really had a problem with is that it moved way too slow.
This is a really good western and we do not get many of those these days. This may be the best on since Open Range. I was not a fan of the remake of True Grit. Keifer and Donald Sutherland are excellent in this movie. Great story and great performances!
I've always been a fan of good westerns having been weaned on John Wayne and later, Clint Eastwood, and this latest foray into this genre is in keeping with the best ! Both Keifer and Donald Sutherland are in top-form.This this felt like a labor of love between this father-son duo ! Both actors brought powerful performances and Demi Moore shined, as well ! Great writing, great action, a wonderful surprising little gem of a movie !
Best western I've seen in recent years. Many of the new westerns are nothing but violence for violence's sake. This one had some, but there was a reason for it and it was shown as a measure that should only be used as a last resort. Great acting. Honorable characters. Clear good and evil. Just like a good western should be. Very well done!
