Great for kids but big kids may need a larger band
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.we purchased 2 of these during the pandemic. With the kids stuck at home we wanted to make sure they were getting enough activity. Now they compete to see who can reach their goals first. The app is great and we can add chores for each kid to help them gain coins. We already had a reward system for them but this integrated well. It also lets us track there sleep. The one we bought for my son had a large band which was a little bit tight. after a few days it was leaving a mark. the packaging only comes wiht one size band. if you want the XL band you can buy it for an additional $20. I didnt like having to pay extra just to make it fit so i took off a star.

Great for kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my son's 8th bday. His older sister has a more expensive fitbit and he wanted something similar. We were afraid he'd lose/damage/forget to charge something more expensive. This was a perfect solution. It doesn't require charging and was less expensive than the fitbit. He almost never takes it off and likes to use it for step counting and as a watch. There are other functions on it as well that are supposed to motivate him to complete chores, but the thrill of that feature only lasted about a week. Don't have any real complaints, other than its still a little pricey if you don't buy it on sale.

Perfect for kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 7 year old wanted a "fitbit" but when looking for one, I found this Garmin fitness tracker designed for kids. It has limited functionality but is geared for kids and he loves it. It tracks "steps" (though I'm not convinced it's very accurate) as well as "activity" time, with a goal automatically set for 60 minutes of daily activity. And it displays the time of day. It also allows me to award coins for chores or tasks. It's easy to customize - I can choose from a long list of chores or create my own, then assign values to each chore, as well as the rewards that the coins can be redeemed for (so if he earns 10 coins, he gets to choose dinner one night, etc.). It syncs to an app that I keep on my phone, so we regularly check his daily steps and activity level, and he really strives to get to his goal. It also tracks sleep, which we can review in the app. And it's waterproof so great for swimming and bathing. He is really loving it!

Controlling my kids with an app!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I knew Garmin was on to something when my kids chased me down to tell me they had done their chores. I knew we were in good shape when I walked in on them brushing their teeth with one hand and staring at the tooth-brushing timer on the other. Great functionality for the kids (timers, step count, coin count, etc.) and simple controls for parents via the app. I won't review the app here but do appreciate the activity trackers' ability to pair with two parents' phones. So far so good. Only had one display issue that was quickly resolved by syncing data with my phone.

Worth It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son loves it! We bought this for his 9th birthday and he hasn't taken it off since. No reason to, since it's waterproof. He has really challenged himself to be more active to go beyond those 10,000 steps each day and to accomplish those special tasks/chores. He loves it and now my daughter has added it to her Birthday list. We will plan to buy her one for Christmas rather.

Simple product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I quickly read the specs of this product just before buying it, that was a mistake...it might be good for kids but not good enough for an adult, my wife bought it for her but the wristband was too tight. Also be aware that it uses a non rechargeable battery, so once it does you need to buy a new battery.

My Son Loves it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Fitbit tracker and my son saw how involved I was in tracking my daily steps and staying active. He wanted to compete with me but I couldn't really find something in the Fitbit that worked for him. This Garmin doesn't have to be constantly recharged like my fitbit, it handles water much better and keeps my son active in competition with me for daily steps even thought the Garmin and Fitbit run on separate apps. The only downfall was after 5 months the band broke and we had to order a new one. Costs about 20 on Amazon so getting a new band as opposed to a new Garmin was the way to go. Overall a great buy and love to see how excited my son is about exercise and healthy competition.

Q: QuestionHow does this compare to a Fitbit??
Asked by 3921.
This question was asked about the related product: Garmin - vivofit jr. Activity Tracker For Kids - Purple
- A:Answer I personally wear a Fitbit Blaze (which I love) but this Garmin is really designed for kids. There is no Fitbit designed for children under 13. These Garmins have fun features that are the same as Fitbit including: stopwatch / timer, clock, step counter, and easy to read display. The kids do not need the app to see their stats, unlike Fitbit. The app is for the parents mostly, to control the settings. The parents can monitor activity AND add in alarms, chores to earn "tokens", and reminders to do things like brushing teeth, etc. A major plus of this Garmin is what no Fitbit currently offers- is that it is waterproof. Fitbit Blaze is water resistant - this Vivo Jr can be worn while swimming!

Q: QuestionI added two chores to the vívofit jr. with alarms. I later decided to delete them. I deleted them from the app but the phone still beeps to remind for each chore even though I have synced with the app many times. How can I remove the chores from the phone?

- A:Answer I had the same problem with one of my kids watches but not the other???? I managed to resolve it by going onto the app then into the “settings” of the particular kids watch that was still beeping. Selected “alarms” and there it was right there! Even though I’d deleted all alarms from the chores page! Anyway, from there I just deleted the alarm.

Q: QuestionDoes this have an adjustable band?
Asked by Marathonkelly.
- A:Answer The band included in the box is not adjustable. The vivofit jr. module is the same as a vivofit 3 and would fit in a vivofit 3 band which do have adjustable options.
Answered by GarminProductExpert
Q: QuestionCan the vivofit jr and the vivofit 3 use the same app? It's like to get a watch for both me and my daughter and be able to "compete." Wondering if I should get the adult version or just a second kid one and maybe a replacement band.
Asked by Tinkerbell.
This question was asked about the related product: Garmin - vivofit jr. Activity Tracker For Kids - Digi Camo
- A:Answer The vivofit jr. and vivofit 3 use different apps. The vivofit jr. pairs with the vivofit jr. app and the vivofit 3 will pair with the Garmin Connect Mobile app. While the devices do not directly pair with one app, you are still able to compete with your daughter and track steps. The vivofit jr. app has a Leaderboard that would show the number of steps taken by each device.

Q: QuestionWhat would you recommend for a boy turning 13?
Asked by Mimi.
- A:Answer The recommended age range for the vivofit jr. is 4-9 years old. This is based on the band size since it is designed to fit most kids in this age range. For someone turning 13 you may want to consider a similar device like the vivofit 3.
