Love my GE Over-the-Range Microwave
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I'm in love with this 1.6 cu ft GE Over-the-Range Microwave in bisque/cream! I had concerns about a microwave over the range, afraid I'd possibly spill hot liquids when reaching at eye level but I've had no issues. The exhaust vent has high & low settings that work well and the surface light brightens my cooking area below when preparing dishes on the stove. This light also dims which is great for a late night drink of water or sneaking a snack. The color isn't for everyone but in my small kitchen with antique cream cabinets the microwave and range in the same color makes the space look much larger. Being above range also frees up needed counter area. My only regret is not buying it sooner! I'm very pleased and trust GE appliances to perform well and last for years!

Good replacement for 25 year old unit
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Way better than the 25 year old one it replaced that had its keypad string to not register anymore. Same height/depth/width but now has a turntable and much taller opening. Took about 3 hours to install mostly due to complete custom cabinetry instead of standard, plus alignment to roof mounted ducting. Unlike older units from 10+ years ago it doesn't have a solid back plate to mount to. It only is a thin strip to hold the very bottom in place. The additional support must come through the cabinets above it. It was configured for vertical external venting by default, so others wanting to vent inside would have to turn the motor/install the included vent deflection plate. Bright white but not overly large display is more visible than a green or blue monochrome LED like many have.

Over the Range Replacement
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. It’s the bare bones. The size, brand and color was what was needed for a “plug and play” replacement in over the range type. However, nothing is made the way or quality it used to. Now two tabs instead of four tabs on the mounting bracket. Grille vent plate is gone in style to small vents above the door. Smaller turntable plate. Otherwise, it’s working so far.

Nice microwave
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Been a good microwave so far and was one of the cheaper options. The best feature is the express cook options to be able to start the microwave for 1 to 6 minutes with a single push.

Great replacement for old microwave
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Easy to pick up. Got it at a sale price. Looks even better than my old one! Great replacement for an old microwave that broke down after almost 10 years and isn't manufactured anymore

Perfect Basic Microwave
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed.Love my new microwave! I have an older kitchen in my condo which is getting a total rehab next year and the microwave was tiny and old and on the counter. I went ahead and got this one and installed some cheap cabinets overhear because there wasn’t a space for one yet. I love the microwave. It does everything I need a microwave to do. It’s a basic microwave. Perfect for my needs and such an upscaled version of that old microwave on the counter.

Good microwave.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed.Works well. The stainless steel is hard to keep clean. The best feature is the Express Cook option (1 = 1 minute, 2= 2 minutes up to 6).

GE range hood microwave
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Decent machine for the money, but I wish I had spent more for a higher quality unit. The light is quite dim. The tone of the cook alarm is cheap sounding and the overall quality is pretty average. Our previous unit was the higher level GE microwave and it lasted twenty years with good service. I doubt I’ll get half of that out of this one. GE definitely cut some corners on this model.

- A:Answer Hi - The Upfront Filter design found on select GE Series and Profile Series over-the-range microwaves allows for easy access to the charcoal filter and requires no tools to change the filter. Open the microwave door and press the access panel above the cavity opening where it says "PUSH" to lower the panel door. Models with an Upfront Filter have a Reset Filter notification light on the control panel to indicate when it is time to change the filter. The light will illuminate after approximately 6 months of use to alert user to replace the charcoal filter (if used) and clean/replace the grease filters. Reset by pushing and hold 3 seconds. When the Filter Replace LED turned on, replace filter and press Reset Filter and hold for 3seconds to reset. If the filter light remains on after reset, try resetting the microwave electronics by unplugging or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. - A:Answer Hi-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your interest! The blower will need to be rotated for indoor (recirculating) venting. The directions are provided in the installation instructions included with the microwave. Also, the recirculating charcoal filter is included. The turntable can be turned off when using larger dishes. Model JNM3161DFBB is the same microwave except assembled for indoor (recirculating) venting. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: QuestionA thin card board is attached (right side)inside JVM3160 over the Range MicrowaveI recently bought JVM3160 over the range microwave. I see a thin cardboard is attached at the right side, inside the microwave. May I know what is the use of it.? or should I remove it. I don't see anything in the installation instruction manual.

This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave - Stainless steel
- A:Answer Hi AGST- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: QuestionCan you use this microwave over the stove without an outside venting system? We do not have an outside venting system in our house. Will this microwave still work for us if we install it over our stove? Thank you.

This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave - Stainless steel
- A:Answer Yes, you can either vent back into the room or through an external vent. I vented internally. The configuration was easy, hardest part was installing the filter. It took a bit of finesse to remove the panel from the front of the unit.

- A:Answer Hi -this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your interest in our GE model JVM3160RFSS. We appreciate your loyalty! Our 30" over-the-range microwaves are designed to be installed in the same standard upper cabinet space (30" min. width, 12" min.-13" max. depth). The height and depth of the models may vary slightly. The top mounting is basically the same. You will need to use the back wall mounting bracket included with the new model as they are similar but not interchangeable. Your model, JNM1851SM2SS was shipped assembled for recirculating (indoor) venting. Model JVM3160RFSS is shipped assembled for outdoor venting. If you choose model JVM3160, you will also need to purchase the optional recirculating charcoal filter JX81L and follow the recirculating venting instructions in the installation guide. You may want to consider model JNM3161RFSS. It is the same model except is shipped assembled for recirculating (indoor) venting.
