  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: true (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: In the on-line description for my dishwasher, Model GDT650SYVFS, the description says there is a food chopper feature in the base of the dishwasher. I don't see it in my new machine. Is there one and how does it work?

A: Yes, we can confirm that this model features a Piranha™ Hard Food Disposer which is located at the inlet of the wash pump. The Piranha anti-jamming hard food disposer inside the dishwasher grinds food particles before they go down the drain. This clears the passage through to the drain and eliminates the need to pre-rinse dishes. The Piranha hard food disposer is made of stainless steel and will never rust.

Q: What are those strange jets they show on the top rack right side? Do they interfere with using the rack for, say, coffee cups? I see no mention of them in the product description, just some images. Thanks!

A: Those are the bottle wash jets which ensure a deep clean for tall items, narrow glasses, jars and more by directing water and detergent inside to effectively wash hard-to-reach areas.

Q: 1. Can I set the wash time on model GDT650SYVFS seems rather long 1, 2 3 hours

A: In recent years, there have been changes to the Federal Government water and energy efficiency guidelines, which means dishwashers use less water and less energy to run and many surpass standard energy usage guidelines. As a result, dishwashers now run longer to ensure good wash performance but use less energy while doing so. While you can't "set" the wash time, the length of the total cycle is dictated by the cycle and options you choose to use. We suggest reviewing Pages 7-8 of the Owner's Manual for more information regarding the length of the cycles and the options available for you to use. The manual is available online. Click on the Features tab and scroll to the end of the features list to find the link. -Vikki@GEAppliances

Q: Can any of the tines in the bottom or 2nd rack be folded down as in my current 15 year old GE dishwasher?

A: This dishwasher does not have fold down tines. We do have models PDT795SYVFS and PDT755SYVFS that have this feature and would be lovely additions to your kitchen. -Kacie@GEAppliances

Q: Is this model supposed to have a steam exhaust vent on it like most dishwashers do? Noticed there was quite a bit of water in the unit after normal heat dry cycle. And why is there no smaller side mount bracket holes underneath the bigger side tub plugs?

A: This model has a concealed vent which is not visible on the door; the vent is concealed inside of the dishwasher door. This provides a clean appearance, seals in sound during the wash cycle, and protects against venting damage to countertops such as Corian or granite. Some water (standing water), usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the dishwasher tub is normal. If dirty water is building up over time in the bottom of the unit and your installation does not have an air gap, make sure you have a high drain loop. The mounting brackets that are included with the unit have been tested and approved for proper installation. Please follow the Installation Instructions as they're written. -Don@GEAppliances

Q: Is the height adjustable

A: Yes, the height on the GDT650SYVFS is adjustable. The minimum height is 33.375"; the maximum height is 34.625".

Q: Does this model have a wine glass holder?

A: This unit is not equipped with a wine glass holder. This unit does have ball-tip tines perfect for every item.

Q: Does the front of the door show steaks and fingerprints?

A: This dishwasher has our Fingerprint Resistant Stainless-Steel finish! We also recommend that you follow the cleaning tips on page 19 of the Use and Care manual to keep your dishwasher in the best shape possible.

  • Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So quiet, I wasn't sure it was on!

I have only had this dishwasher a day, but so far, I am very pleased. I have run a load, and here is what I loved: 1. It is SUPER quiet! 2. Controls are easy to use, and I love that it shows how long each type of wash cycle takes. 3. I also love that it has a "cycle finish" countdown (so you know how much longer!) 4. It looks great! 5. Third rack is perfect for water bottle lids (I have a TON of water bottles, so this is HUGE) I am so glad I didn't "cheap out" and forgo the additional rack!!! **I gave the dry quality 3 stars, only because I have not tried that feature yet!

    GE Dishwasher

I’m excited how well this cleans the dishes and how easy to clean the filter and replace it. It was so hard to remove in my old machine. I also love the top rack for knives and other large items. It also stays clean on the outside. I’m so much happier with this dishwasher
