Q: Can this unit be installed Ductless?
A: Yes- mine was installed ductless. There is a recommended kit that you can purchase to do this, but my contractor configured the vent himself. It just requires a side vent to let the air out when you turn on the hood. You will not be venting smoke and odors out of your home, but the filters will help reduce smoke by catching and recycling the air.
Q: What diameter duct is needed to pipe this out through the roof?
A: Hi Al - Thanks for choosing GE Model UVC9360SLSS and welcome to the family! Use a 8" round duct. We suggest viewing the Installation Guide at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-80813-2.PDF - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. This GE 36” range hood is a perfect pairing to our 30” GE Profile Range. The WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity are unbelievably useful … something that I never thought I needed, now can’t live without. Having the range hood light and fan automatically turn on and off when using the range is simply magical. The fan is powerful and fairly quiet depending on the speed. It’s quite efficient as we never feel we need to go beyond medium speed, usually using low for most things. The lights are nice and bright and can be set to turn on at a preferred brightness when the range is activated. The range hood is fairly easy to install and the instructions available are pretty straightforward. I built a custom cabinet for it and couldn’t be happier. I’d recommend this range hood to anyone looking for quality, functionality and good design.

The vent hood looks great and the fan works well, and the buttons are easy to operate. Why only one star? Oh that is because I value my life and don’t want to be randomly attacked by falling heavy-metal baffles with sharp corners when I’m cooking over a hot stove. These ventilation baffles have fallen off so many times for me now I don’t understand how this hood ever got a good review?!! Also when installing them it takes some time to get it right to keep them from falling or knocking each other off (there are 3). When I put them back in I need to put a large pillow on top of the stove so it doesn’t come crashing down on the stove. If I had a glass cooktop instead of a steel grate on my stove it would probably have been broken/ruined by now. Likely need to figure out some solution with putty or something to keep these in place. They have randomly fallen out when no one is even working at the stove. They kind of balance in place and it is honestly surprising to me that an injury from this hasn’t led to a lawsuit yet.
