    Synopsis

    Green Zone
United 93 director Paul Greengrass explores the aftermath of the Iraq invasion in this feature adaptation of author Rajiv Chandrasekaran's literary exposé Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone. A onetime Baghdad bureau chief of the Washington Post, Chandrasekaran was present as American forces attempted to set up a provisional government on the grounds surrounding former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's opulent palace. The resulting governing body, according to critics, existed in a bubble so far-removed from the grim realities of the Iraq War that it failed to properly assess the needs of the people. In this fictional thriller set during the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad, director Greengrass and screenwriter Brian Helgeland use Chandrasekaran's journalistic account as the foundation for the story of an officer who joins forces with a senior CIA officer to unearth evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Matt Damon) is certain that Hussein has been stockpiling WMDs in the Iraqi desert, but in their race from one empty site to the next, they soon stumble across evidence of an elaborate cover up. As a result, Miller realizes that operatives on both sides of the conflict are attempting to spin the story in their favor. Now, as Miller searches for answers made ever more elusive by covert and faulty intelligence, the truth becomes the most valuable weapon of all. Will those answers prove pivotal in clearing a rogue regime, or escalate the war in a region that grows increasingly unstable with each passing day? Amy Ryan co-stars as the New York Times foreign correspondent who travels to Iraq investigating the U.S. government's allegations about weapons of mass destruction, with Greg Kinnear appearing in the role of an additional CIA officer, and Antoni Corone essaying the role of a colonel. Brendan Gleeson rounds out the main cast for this Universal Pictures production. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

      Blue Ray Doesn't Play

I've tried playing this on four different Blue Ray players, and it only worked on one of them. The good thing is that it comes with a DVD too, so I still got to watch it, even if not in Blu Ray. It also comes with a downloadable version for your computer which is nice. Essentially, I got the downloadable copy, then gave away the DVD to my brother and the Blue Ray version to my Dad. I've been reading more and more about Blu Ray compatiblility problems and I think someone seriously needs to address it. If the BlueRay doesn't work, you're stuck with it. Sorry, I don't have $30 bucks to just toss into the trash can, guys. Now, as far as the actual movie goes: the plot is decent. Love Matt Damon as an actor. Greg Kinnear was a good opponent. The cinematography was horrible. Not worth blue ray. Many scenes were shot with a handheld - shaky and grainy. Not a good thing for blue ray watchers, IMO. There you have it.

      Heavy Burst Action!

This movie, in my opinion, went really in depth to the politics of both American and Iraq in the early days when America first invaded the city and the deception of our intelligance community. Besides the political picture this film also has much exciting Class 3 weapons exchanges and suspensfull dramatic scenes and all together made for one heck of a movie. I really enjoyed it alot, but I had to watch it several times in order to really understand what was going on. But the movie is really great and Matt Damon's role in this is perfect! Some violence and language, but not enough to talk about and the movie, in my opinion, is well worth seeing.

Picked this up as a blind buy because it was so cheap. Pretty decent flick, not worth more than the $10 I paid for it. The action was fantastic and the plot was petty interesting, albeit predictable. Kind of scary to think of if the government really behaves like this.

This is a great movie especially if you're into war combat movies like myself. Most of the action takes place in Iraq. Get this movie as you won't be disappointed.

This movie was good i had seen ads on tv. I bought it and I wasn't disappointed. Matt Damon on par with the Bourne series. The plot was captivating but the end was some-what predictable. Still a Good Movie and everything i thought it would be.

Green Zone is quite a dramatic and action at the same time. Matt Damon is wonderful. The same director who brought the Bourne identity. Like the cast and deleted scenes.
