Synopsis

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Youthful wizard Harry Potter returns to the screen in this, the second film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's wildly popular series of novels for young people. Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) return for a second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Headmaster Dumbledore (Richard Harris), Professor Snape (Alan Rickman), Professor McGonagall (Maggie Smith), and Hagrid the Giant (Robbie Coltrane) are joined by new faculty members Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branagh), a self-centered expert in Defense against the Dark Arts, and Sprout (Miriam Margolyes), who teaches Herbology. However, it isn't long before Harry and company discover something is amiss at Hogwarts: Students are petrified like statues, threats are written in blood on the walls, and a deadly monster is on the loose. It seems that someone has opened the mysterious Chamber of Secrets, letting loose the monster and all its calamitous powers. As Harry, Ron, and Hermione set out to find the secret chamber and slay the beast, speculation is rife that one of the heirs of Salazar Slytherin, the co-founder of the school, opened the chamber as a warning against the presence of "mudbloods" (magic-users of impure lineage) at the school -- and that the culprit may be fellow student Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton). Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets featured Richard Harris' second and final appearance as Headmaster Dumbledore; he died less than a month before the film was released in the United States. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I did not buy this for the movie but for the DVD extras and it was a solid investment. I really enjoyed watching the 8 part creating the world of Harry Potter documentary. This is a must for any Harry Potter fan and good choice of upgrading to blu-ray over other sets.

awesome set, was glad to see that there were new documentaries with the ultimate sets of the Harry Potter franchise. The Blu-ray version looks and sounds great naturally, these movies seem to really benefit from the high Def. visual and audio of the format. was also glad to see that the original documentaries from the older DVD releases were on these ultimate sets, means i can save some room on my shelf by gettin rid of the old DVD's. if your a HP fan, and you already own the DVD's, you should go and get these to replace them, cause they are really nice sets to have and you get new material as well as the old. a very good purchase in my opinion, simply cant wait till all the others come out!!

I have watched this second film in the "Harry Potter" franchise over a dozen times...the latest viewing was in BluRay, which I highly recommend. Can't believe I've never written a review...but several of my reviews have suspiciously disappeared and that could be the case here. Anyway, this is a worthy successor to "The Sorcerer's Stone" and a great fantasy actioner in its own right. Not only did the audiences love it in the theaters, the critics also loved it...a rare combination. The principle young actors - Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson - are a year older here and I've always loved being able to watch them in these movies as they mature. Richard Harris made his last appearance as Albus Dumbledore in this film...wish he had lived long enough to do them all! Look for the Hogwarts staff regulars, Alan Rickman as Professor Snape, Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall; and Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid. Kenneth Branagh makes a wonderful one-off appearance as the bumbling, chicken-hearted Professor Guillory Lockhart and Jason Isaacs makes his first appearance as the evil Lucius Malfoy. The plot is a good one too and Chris Columbus is back behind the camera to craft a memorable film...my highest recommendation!
