How do I change my name on my Best Buy account?

You can update the name on your account online

Easily change your name on your Best Buy account by accessing the Account Settings page in your My Best Buy account. From there, you can select "Change Your Account Name" to update your information.

Is there a way to make this change online or in a store?

This change cannot be made in a store at this time. Right now, you can change the name on your account by going to your Account Settings in your My Best Buy™ account.

Can I use a chosen name, preferred name or nickname?

Yes, you can use any of these. Just know that some names may not be allowed if they contain blocked words or phrases.

How long until my new name shows up on my account? 

It’s usually displayed within 24 hours.

Will I receive a confirmation once the change is made? 

If we ask you to provide documentation, we’ll send you a confirmation email letting you know that we received it. Your updated name will usually appear on your account within the next 24 hours.

Do I need to take any additional steps?

Once the change has been made, you might need to sign out of your account and sign back in again to see your updated name displayed.

Will my name be changed on all my Best Buy-related things? 

It will be changed on most of them: your Best Buy account, order-related emails, promotional emails, rewards and memberships.

Your name will not be changed on any protection plans or subscriptions you previously purchased, and it won’t be changed on any in-progress orders or services. Also, if you have a My Best Buy® Credit Card, your name will not be changed on your credit card account. To change your name on your My Best Buy Credit Card, call Citi’s customer service number on the back of your credit card.
