What are Best Buy stores' holiday hours?

In order to accommodate your schedule during the holiday rush, Best Buy stores will be open for extended holiday hours on the following dates:

  • Sunday, December 9: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Monday, December 10 through Thursday, December 13: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 16: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Monday, December 17 through Saturday, December 22: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 23: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Monday, December 24: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 26: 9 a.m to 9 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 27 through Saturday, December 29: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m

Some stores may have different hours where required by local ordinances or landlord regulations. Mall-based Best Buy store hours may vary based on mall hours. Does Best Buy price match during the holidays?

My local store and ran out of the item I want. Is there another way to get it?

Inventory is constantly updated in stores and on throughout the holiday season, especially when it comes to the holiday's most popular items. Make sure to check back early, and often, in case of a restock.

How do I check my order status?

Visit the Order Status page. Enter the order number (from your order confirmation email), plus the last name and phone number you used to place the order. If you have an account, you can also access your orders from your Account overview after you sign in.

Can I still place orders for Store Pickup during the holiday season?

Yes. Store Pickup is still offered throughout the holidays, and it's a great option if you're in a rush.

While we try our best to fulfill every pickup order that's placed, the fast-paced nature of the holiday season can result in inaccuracies when reflecting your local store's inventory on Make sure to wait until you receive communication stating that your order is ready before going to pick it up. This email can take up to 4 hours to arrive.

Please note that, due to the sheer number of shoppers coming through our stores on a daily basis, picking up your order could take a bit longer than usual. We strive to deliver a meaningful, personalized shopping experience for everyone who comes through our doors — your patience and understanding while our Blue Shirts work to provide a positive, industry-leading experience for each customer is greatly appreciated.

Don't forget that both a photo ID and the form of payment used to order are required to fulfill a Store Pickup order. If the order is placed for Friends & Family Pickup, the individual picking up the order will need to provide a photo ID as well as the order number.

Purchases must be picked up within 5 days of placing your order. After 5 days, the order will be automatically canceled and your credit card will be refunded.

I bought a gift that requires service/installation. When can I expect that to be scheduled?

Products that require installation (such as remote car starters) are some of our perennial best-sellers around the holiday season. We'll always try our best to accommodate your needs when scheduling a service appointment, but the demand for appointments around the holidays is so high that appointment slots typically fill up quickly. We'll be happy to reserve the most convenient, available appointment slot for you, but for time-sensitive services/installations we recommend that you schedule as far in advance as possible.

What is the Best Buy holiday return and exchange policy?

Buy your gifts and other items this holiday with the peace of mind of easy returns. Almost every purchase made throughout November and December can be returned through January 12, 2019.

Purchases made between October 28–December 28, 2018, have an extended return period through January 12, 2019, excluding cell phones, devices that can be activated, and AppleCare monthly plans. All other terms and conditions of our Return & Exchange Promise apply.

My Best Buy® Elite and Elite Plus members have an extended holiday return/exchange window. Elite members have through January 27, 2019, to return or exchange products purchased between October 28 and December 28, 2018, while Elite Plus members can return or exchange purchases made in that time frame through February 11, 2019. Does Best Buy offer layaway?

At this time, Best Buy does not offer layaway. However, we do offer a multitude of flexible financing options through our My Best Buy credit cards.

I need to renew a Geek Squad Protection (GSP) plan that I purchased during a previous holiday season — what are my options?

If your Geek Squad Protection plan is eligible to be renewed and Best Buy has your e-mail address on file, a renewal reminder will be sent to you via e-mail. This one-time renewal notice is sent approximately 45 days before your current contract is set to expire. The e-mail contains a "Renew Now" link, which enables you to easily update your plan online.

If you did not receive an e-mail notification, please check your spam folders. If not found there, please contact us at 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289) before your current coverage expires. We can determine eligibility and/or assist with renewing your plan.

Due to the contractual nature of Geek Squad Protection plans, a plan cannot be renewed if any gap in coverage has occurred. GSP plans must be renewed prior to the expiration of your current plan. Geek Squad Protection plans for Apple® products are not eligible to be renewed; however, Best Buy continues to honor claims on all existing service plans throughout the life of the contract.
